I read somewhere on bungie that said there isint going to be a forklift on forgeworld becuz it wouldn't make sense becuz a human vehicle on a halo ring? unless u meant another map skittles
I would assume that Bungie would have made kill volumes work in that way, however there are no promises seeing as how oddballs and such on Sandbox would have to respawn on their own. But, if they do fix that, then it would be great. P.S: Why would you put a soft volume on the bottom of your map? Maybe a thin layer for a warning to Jetpackers, but a kill volume right under it would almost be necessary for a floating map to function properly.
Well, I found a thread on Bungie.net. Ferrex seems to be answering people's questions about Forge 2.0. linky
Ferrex: The tunnel leads to the other side. It's not a major interior structure (that's what the Coliseum space is for!) Not all of the Forge World objects are available on all of the maps, mainly due to memory limitations (remember, physical size != memory. Forge World was very intelligently built and optimized to be large but leave a lot of memory free for objects.) But the other maps still have a ton of build potential. As for more variants, we'll see. Ferrex: The absolute object limit is still there, but it is higher now. I can't remember exactly where we left it, because it really ultimately depended on how much memory we had available. Note that objects originally on the map no longer permanently count against that limit (which is why some clever authors would save and re-use those original objects.) That old bug is fixed. Ferrex: You can still set the number of Clips for placed weapons. Gadgets contains stuff like Teleporters, Man Cannons, and other toys. And yep, Teleporters can be given a spawn time, if you want to mark one as "Not Placed At Start" and have it spawn in after that spawn time. Ferrex: Once an object is completely out of the environment, it can't be pushed any further. If you release it, it'll actually just vanish (since you wouldn't be able to select it again to delete it.) And yes, objects can be placed in the sky but left with Normal physics so that they fall. No preview images, unfortunately. We had a plan for that (using screenshots), but didn't get to do that one. Ferrex: Debug geometry from an internal build. I don't think you'll see those in the final game. Ferrex: The Oddballs, Flags, and their ilk now reset when they hit a kill volume. The MP team had strong sauce this time. Ferrex: Yes, we fixed it. But, I have a lunch bet riding on the community figuring out some other glitch that lets them do it anyway. Never underestimate the community, IMO. I'll edit with more. ;]
The first one is just someone walking inside an object someone is holding, the other one is just an optical illusion...
Oh, yeah, you're right, he did a round two where he answered more questions that are not in the weekly update. They are here though
That was answered by Ferrex in his big Q&A. People speculated that you'd be able to adjust gravity options based on this shot and a couple other scenes. He said it was actually someone inside one of the larger pieces while someone else, in monitor mode, was rotating it. No gravity changes or rotating pieces in forge. Ferrex is sorry. Edit: Didn't see someone answered that already, but there ya go!
OMG tsb that reminds me, how funny is it gonna be when the waterfall goes right through objects Its gonna look really fail without and splashing or puddling lol.
I hope the community decided to be original for 5 seconds and thinks about the millions of location possibilities instead of ALL flocking to that damn Lagoon.
I'm right with you on that one. Everyone is gonna be like, "LOLOLOL HERP DERP HEY GUYS I JUST MADE A MAP AND IT R HAZ WATERFALL!!! NOBODY ELSE IS GONNA DO THIS! I SAW IT AND RIGHT AWAY I KNEW I WAS THE FIRST ONE TO THINK ABOUT IT! LOLOL I R SO ORIGINAL!"
Only intelligent use of the waterfall I can think of right now is putting a vehicle teleporter behind it on a race map... Unless somebody makes a map similar to the boss battle in H2 with the waterfall at its core. (by which I mean some kind of multi level ring map)
Or build some kind of defending base off of the waterfall and make like the attacking base along the beach.
Anyone doing that whole HERP DERP NEED WATERFALL IT R PRITTY clearly isn't planning their map very well so it'll suck anyway. Personally I've got big plans for the Pinnacle, which is one spot I don't anticipate too many maps to be built. I'm seeing lots in the Colosseum, lots in the Canyon, lots on the beach, and obviously lots floating or in the Lagoon. Also, about forty different whole-map racetracks in the first 3 days. Bad remakes of Guardian and The Pit will be abundant as well.
