This model represents my second attempt at making something suitable for my university porftolio for my course in Architecture. It is my estimation that my knowledge in the subject shouldn't be very complex, so i feel that i am allowed to sacrifice some level of practicality if it helps show better a sense of creativity. I have decided to take a slightly different approach from my first model of a small house, focusing more on sleek design and better explanation of space, rather than extreme detail. I assume that as the designer of the building, the fine details would be left down to those who would be more hands-on in the construction process. To start, i have begun making an Apartment/Office block , and will be moving onto interior space soon. In the mean time, some constructive criticism from both a realistic and artistic point of view would be fab. Current issues: - Opinions on this window design? - Which cutout is better, Steps or Slanted line?
slanted lines could be less obvious maybe, because it looks a bit strange the angle change looks like its getting bigger each time
The top line moved to the right by 25cm more each time. It looks a bit dodgy, because you are lead to believe that all the lines come from 1 fixed point. If it were so the more spaced out ones (on the right) would be further apart than the closer ones. I will probably do that if i plan to keep these, but i'm not sure. These are the only slanted lines present on a building entirely consisting of vertical and horizontal. I'm not the only one who thinks they look out of place, so at the moment they are a maybe until i can find an interesting alternative.
Cool stuff matt, this is definately an improvement on the house model. Forgive me for saying this but the design looks quite dated, its reminiscent of the 70's and correct me if I'm wrong but wasn't the 70's called 'the decade that style forgot'? I dunno, it looks clean and precise but a bit too 70's block-of-flats for me.
What about this? These curves aren't very good, and i'll probably do more. Perhaps 3 of the same arc facing the same way?
I like that one the most, but having all of the arched parts just straight and tilted in alternating directions might be more pleasing to the eyes.
I'd sure hate to hit my noggin on the top of those stairs! They should be carpeted on the ceiling. That would be confusing. This design looks like something you'd see in Arizona. I'm loving your architecture designs though. The last one was great. I'm a big fan of this kind of stuff. Keep em coming please!
Some major changes taking place now. The staircase area will probably be the back of the building, and the windowed face being the side where most of the interior space will look out toward.
i like the new versions, very mirror's edge like, add textures to some of the things that stick out? or is it a plain concrete affair?
