    Forger's Note: This map was disappointing to me as a Forger, I give you that now at the risk of losing downloads. There were so many beautiful aesthetics and layouts I had wanted to try and achieve with this project, but couldn't because of both Foundry's and Forge it self's limitations. Overall, though, the finished project, which is the map that you will (hopefully) be downloading, is astounding. I've had much fun playing this with friends, and most of the feedback I've received has been positive, whilst the other half has been helpful suggestion. I thank everyone that has contributed in some way to the making of this map, and hope you will have a good time with it. This is my first experiment with merging, I think I've done a good job.

    OffBeat Overview: Offbeat is a medium sized asymmetrical map that is both fun to play and aesthetically pleasing. There are two 'bases', one being square and precise, the other being curved, pointed, and slightly random. In the center there is an open area with a wire spool in the center, which provides more cover than one would think. There is also a ramp up to a turret, the square base, and the upper floor. The upper area that is decorated with fusion coils (rocket spawn), and is usually the 'road less traveled' due to a general tendency to be killed there.

    OffBeat Inspiration: OffBeat's inspiration came from an unpopular dance club near where I live, where most of the 'gangsta' children like to go. I, personally, dislike all of the skinny white kids that pretend to live in the ghetto (which I know for a fact that they live in the classy suburbs), and decided to remake the building in Forge to show them what it means to be hardcore.

    EXTRAS: I took the liberty of taking pictures of a few things [that I worked hard on to make this map what it is] that you'll probably miss in your forge-throughs', or just won't care to notice.

    INTERLOCKED WALLS: I've interlocked the walls of the Square 'base' area into it's floor, to remove the small area where you could throw grenades through (which happens when you use walls as floors). It might be slightly hard to tell from the picture below, but it's true.

    STAIRS BARRIER: Since I couldn't merge walls into the map geometry (???), I had to find a substitute. No, I couldn't use crates with receiver nodes, that would take too much money. No, I couldn't use a bridge, it's too long. In the end, I had to use stairs to close off this area, and merge them into the ground. It has a neat effect (chain-link fence), and leaves a slight image atop the bridge that looks really cool. Don't worry about it affecting game-play with a slight bump, the bump is almost unnoticeable - I know none of you are going to believe me about this, but it's true, try for yourself.

    SENTINEL BEAM SPAWN: For some reason, most people miss this. This little ledge is where the sentinel beam spawns. It's not much of an aesthetic touch, but I thought I'd include it here to show you that it exists. It's on the aesthetic side of the map, above needler spawn.

    ACTION SCREENSHOTS (All taken during a 1v1 vs Albyhouse):

    I use my sneaky skills to surprise Alby after hiding for half a minute.

    I blew up some fusion coils behind him, launching him into the air. I was disoriented, and he scored himself a no scope.

    After scoring Overshields, Alby was disappointed to meet my Power Drainer + Sentinel Beam so quickly.

    Alby, bored of not being able to find me, takes a random shot out of boredom. That lucky bastard... (cue explosions!)

    After losing all of my shields to Albys duel grenades, he was dismayed to see I had made a run for the recently spawned overshields. It was Epic.

    Final Words: Again, I'd like to thank many people who had helped test this map:
    Gobbles: For pissing me off and finding every way out of this map. You jerk.
    Albyhouse: For testing this with me vigorously against your will.
    Some person I don't remember: For pointed out that one spawning flaw.

    this looks great, seeing the pics, the interlocking is phenomenal and the aesthetics are cool and unique (in a good way) cnt wait to add this to my HD :]

    This is a seriously awesome map. I liked testing it out with you. It was fun, let me test next map too.

    This actually doesn't look half that bad.


    Okay, let me rephrase that. This really looks good, aesthetically. Here and there, I can spot some subtle gameplay problems, but I like.

    Super Solider77: Thanks for helping, I was getting starved for testers during the later days.

    Nemihara: I thank you, I had tried hard to forge many aesthetic touches into the map, without the map being focused around them. It takes away from the competitive aspect, IMO, to have your map based around a giant statue or something of the like (though some maps do pull it off). Please, though, explain the areas where you think game-play could get iffy, as I've had no problems through testing.

    GoodWhaleSushi: Thanks for testing it! It always helps to play a little used game-type to break things up!

    Domy, you're a master forger. I read that comment about how you were disappointed with this and was all like damn wtf. I know Foundry is limited but you gave it hell anyway with the aesthetics. I like the dance club theme, well, I don't like dance clubs, but I like that you mocked it. I picture you more as a punk rock guy with you user name. Anyway, good job, it looks great.

    I really like the crude drawing, somehow it gave me a better sense of the map, but anyways i like the layout so keep it up

    ANYWAY, as a major tester of this map it is really really fun. I loved playing all the games we spent where dom would rape me with those Friggin fusion coils. *scolds*

    Domi, you master forger know the problem of this map. Gobbles should of told you already. Anyway im finally glab you posted this.

    Pred: Haha, punk rock. That's really funny. I'm not gonna give out a description of myself online (I'll let Albs handle that), but you're not completely correct with that one.

    Thanks for the comments, and yes, there were many things I wanted to implement into the map that I couldn't. Actually, to be completely honest, I hadn't anticipated the actual size of my canvas (Foundry), and the entire 'aesthetic' side was improvised from my original layout :p. If foundry were just a little bit larger, I would have implemented a more accurate (and IMO better) layout, but I couldn't.

    Grizzle: I'm going to be taking a break from competitive maps for a little to catch up on some fun ideas I have for casual. So I will be keeping it up, just in a different forum.

    Albs:
    (1)Way to take Pred's term 'master forger' directly from him, you would never say that in person >__>.
    (2) I kill you in every game, it's a law of nature.
    (3) Is it the fact that you can get out of it? Because the way you two do it is never going to happen in a real match... you hear me? Never! Or is it the spawn problem> Because that's more the reason I took out CTF and ASL.

    P.S. Yours was crappy. My MS PAINT title picture is way better than your crappy gimp one >:p. And also, my dad could beat up your dad, so meh!

    P.P.S. Meh, it was alright. I had my first real taste of coffee there, I have no idea why Starbucks is so big.

    Vestige: What bump? I see no bumps, nor forged any to my extent of knowledge.

    MNM: Yay, the layout gets good reviews! And nifty is alright with me, so long as it's not used, in any way, with the term 'male genitalia'.

    PLEASE, IF ANYONE FINDS A FAULT WITH THIS MAP, FEEL FREE TO CONTACT ME BY ANY MEANS NECESSARY. CARRIER PIGEON PROFFERED.
