Okay guys, so right now I'm working on an ODST based map, it's called ODS3. Story is, you and 2 other buddies are ODST's, and your on a ship high in the sky that has a working drop pod, and you need to get off for whatever reason. I can't give you any spoilers of what it looks like(don't want it to be stolen), but I do need help getting some ideas of what I should do with it. Here's some ideas I've already come up with. Note that this will be on a map with the tower lasers blocked. 1)Your ship is about to blow up. You have 30 seconds to get your gear together, and get into the drop pod and activate it. You land in a city, crawling with the covenant and you must survive there for a certain amount of time. 2)When you land, you land near a base or building or whatever crawling with flood/covenant forces. Your goal is to kill them all without getting killed yourself. 3)Your ship is about to blow up, when you land you are in a vast empty place. The only chance you and your team have of escaping is to find a hornet that has crash landed, and use it to get out of here. The desert will be swarming with hostile forces(covenant/flood/zombies in general). This would be played with terretories because the hornet needs to reach the a big territory in the sky for you to win. Not sure how this would work though, because I'm confused about what would happen when one of your team members die. Or I could have an honor rule that you MUST have all 3 ODST's in the hornet for you to win or whatever. 4)When you land, your objective is to rescue a survivor trapped in a covenant controlled area. Your objective would be to get there and rescue him, and come back. I suppose you would need an honor rule that if the survivor dies, the ODST's lose. Once rescued, the ODST's would have to bring him back to a base or whatever and try to survive for the remaining time. Any other suggestions would be greatly appreciated, as I can't decide on what I should do. I have finished the 'ship' and the drop pod which work really well, but I just need help coming up with map ideas and finishing it.
1: Could easily be done by putting a time limit on the round, and having an infection variant where 3 people start as infected (these 3 would have ODST stats) and the humans would have Covenant stats. In order to prevent the Covenant that the ODSTs kill from respawning as ODST reinforcements, you could give everyone one life. All this would require a large number of players (over 8) and result in very stealth-based gameplay for the ODSTs and ambush-based gameplay for the Covenant. 2: Same as above, only without the time limit. Also, since this focuses less on stealth and survival and more on killing, give the Covenant less health. 3: I can think of a few things that might work, but I don't have much experience with Territories so I don't know how the scoring system works. 4: Make the gametype VIP Destination, and have the round end if the VIP dies.
1)I don't know, it seems like a good idea, but it also seems like it would end too quickly. Maybe if it was flood or whatever, and then it could actually be a survival game. 2)I like this idea, the ODST's would definetly need to use stealth to their advantage, and a couple of effects should be on to help them. 3)Okay so the ODST's need to get to a hornet, and use it to get to the territory in the sky(which is also their ticket out). The only problem is there would have to be an honor rule established so that the covenant are not allowed to- get in the hornet, destroy it when there is no driver, and they are also not allowed to capture the territory. Only the ODST's are allowed, and the covenant's goal is to stop them. 4)Yeah, but BOTH teams would need a VIP right? I suppose I would need to establish another honour rule so the covenant VIP is not allowed to go to the destination. Is there any way to have only 1 VIP in a game, so that the other team does not have one?
in territories doesn't only one person have to be in the territory ? and also the person could be a bomb that you have to fly to get too making it not territories and get the bomb to take back to a convenit base that would be cool... (= sry if i went off topic i don't want to screw u up
Yeah you're correct, but it wouldn't make sense to have your team mate die, and then they respawn, and then you ditch them. It should be so that all the ODST make it out. The bomb idea is kind of cool, but I think that it would get boring after a while, since you're completely outnumbered. It's something I will consider though. Right now, I'm leaning over onto the kill everyone in the base idea, it sounds really fun.
I thought there was a setting in VIP that allowed you to make it one-sided. =/ Oh well, if there isn't, then put a Defender's (or attacker's, depending on which is the Covenant) VIP starting spawn in a observation room in the skybubble so the Covenant's VIP can't get to the Destination, he can just watch. Also, to keep the ODST VIP from leaving his spawn before the ODSTs escort him out, you could spawn him in a pit with walls around it or a building with windows that are too high to jump out of so he can't escape, and a Grav Lift on 10 second respawn in the center of the pit that he can't pick up because VIPs are set to spawn with Shotguns (Unlimited ammo) and have Weapon Pickup disabled. Then he could have fun defending himself from Covies jumping down into his pit until the ODSTs get there and deploy the Grav Lift so he can get out.
The 'somone watching from overhead' is something I was trying to avoid. I'm trying out maps like I am Legend right now, because they follow the rescue concept, and work well.
If the drop pod you are working on is just a teleporter, then you disappointed me. I honestly thought that someone made a working drop pod from the sky bubble. Anyways...you can just make everyone have one life, and put it in the 1 sided VIP game mode, and try to disable vehicle driving use to anyone but the VIP, so that only the VIP can fly it out. You can also make the escape route a platform in the sky with a teleporter on it, and that leads you to a smaller rescue ship with the destination point. You can even add a story to that. Two ODSTs escorting a pilot to a hornet so they can be rescued by the rescue team. Make sure to set the hornet, platform and the ship to be spawned later in the game, so the game lasts longer, and to give players more of a challenge.
Hah, hell no. It's actually a drop pod that drops with you in it and you decide when you drop. It's not pretty, but it sure as hell is fun. Oh, and all the bugs haven't been worked out so it still kills you sometimes on impact. Anyways, right now I'm thinking of making a mansion of some sort, the ODST's drop in, and the mansion is filled with a rebel group of some sort. I like this idea, because if everyone were to wear the same armor, and only the ODST's had radar, it could make for some interesting gameplay.
