    ODST Factory

    MAJOR CHANGES
The map is now set up for Multiflag CTF as well as Team Slayer
I took Gorebound's advice and improved the weapon balance. The Spartan Laser and a couple of Carbines have been removed. The maulers in the tunnles have been moved to different locations inside the tunnels. There are now less grenades on the map.

What once was a factory producing weapons and ammunition is now a Training Facility for the UNSC's elite.

This map was made specifically for Team Slayer. CTF and MLG versions made upon request.

There are two bases, in which each team spawns. Each base has two floors. Weapons include Battle Rifles, a Carbine, and a Brute Shot.

The middle of the map is divided between A three-story structure and tunnels/alleys. The screenshots will answer any questions, its kind of hard to explain.

The first floor of the structure is includes crates and barriers for cover. Here you can also find a power drain, a carbine, and a two-way teleporter giving you easy access to high ground on the opposite side of the map. Mid to close range combat usually occurs on the first floor.

The second floor is a little more open so the combat varies. There's easy access to both the first and third floors. Directly in the middle you can find a sword and and a radar jammer. This is a good spot to send a barrage of Battle Rifle rounds to opponents across the map.

The third foor is usually where people want to be. You can use signs and barrers for cover. Battle Rifles and Assualt Rifles are located here. Theres a bridge leading from the third floor to what used to be the managers office. 45 seconds into the game, an invisibility will spawn on that bridge for you ninjas out there.

The managers office is where the sniper spawns. Windows and barriers provide cover and a good view to blow opponents heads off. Here there's also a regenerator. A pair of stairs branch off leading to the lower part of the map. A short jump away from the managers office is the a small platform where the other teleporter is located. This is where you'll also finde a Spartan Laser and a Flare.

Directly underneath the Spartan Laser spawn and the Manager's office are the alleys and the tunnels. The shotgun spawns in the middle of the alley. Each tunnel contains a mauler and a carbine. These can be very useful when youre trying to escape from and enemy sniper.

Dumpsters in the middle of the map provide cover and are a good way to access the different elevated sections of the map.

I might of missed small details, hopefully the screenshots will answer any questions.

    Re: ODST Factory

I'm gonna download it and test it out. I'll get back to you with an updated opinion tomorrow.

But how come you've placed Reciever nodes on top of the dumpsters? Is it to prevent them from falling / being moved? The dumpsters are static and thus cannot be moved, therefore eliminating the purpose of placing teleporters on them.
Just a heads up if you didn't already know about it :).

Actually I didnt know that gorebound, thanks. So yea the receiver nodes on the dumpsters are pointless. I'll edit that as soon as I can.

    Re: ODST Factory

It's not a problem man :) But just so you know, the dumpsters aren't static in the way that double boxes are static. They can be moved, just not by grenades / rockets / melees etc. I don't know how it is about vehicles though.

If you don't have any warthogs on the map then that isn't a problem ;).

    Re: ODST Factory

You've done a good job in designing this map, especially the bases. I like how both bases feel open yet so covering. The map has a natural flow that prevents any dead ends. Good work.

    Aesthetic / Functionality
I cant see any use of Interlocking, have you heard about that technique? It greatly enhances the aesthetic appeal of any map, maybe you should look into that for your next project. It isn't really necessary for this map because of the way you've designed it, but I thought I'd just give you an heads up.

    Spawning
Everything looks up to par here, nothing to complain about. You've managed to place good spawns all over the map. Did you ever consider to use spawnareas?

    Weapons / Equipment
This is the only area were I felt that you failed to achive a balanced experience, but that however is based upon my personal preference. In my opinion you've placed too many powerweapons too close to each other. There never really becomes a struggle over the control of each weapon when there are so many equal weapons on the map. I think that a good map should limit the amount of powerweapons in order to create chokepoints for the teams / players to seize control over.

All in all you've done a good job in forging this map.

    Peace // gorebound

    Re: ODST Factory

From the pics it looks pretty great. Downloading now, I will give you my review as soon as possible.

Edit: Me and my friend checked it out. It was pretty good. He thought it should be more symmetrical. Also the power weapons are too close together. Overall we thought you did pretty great. We give you a 4.2 out of 5 =]

    Re: ODST Factory

    Thanks for the review gorebound!

Spawn areas have never worked for me, that's why I resort to spawn points.

I did interlock two double walls to create the area where the sniper spawn but nothing major, I will interlock more for my future projects.

Regarding weapon balance, I think the spartan laser is a bit too much. While play testing, it was rarely used.

Thanks for the positive review again! I'll edit the map as sson as possible which will most likely be friday

EDIT: Thanks for the feedback kidmonkey! Please post on the bungie thread so others can see.

Gorebound, I took your advice and improved the weapon balance. I removed a couple of carbines and the spartan laser. I also moved the location of the maulers.
