So my new map has good lighting. All of the pieces are the same color and stuff, which I really like. I hate it when my maps have lighting problems, it usually causes me to give up on them. Anyways, I was finishing up spawns and stuff, and I ended up placing 7 Spawn Zones. 3 of these just happened to be placed directly over the center of 3 different blocks on the map. Once I finished, I saved, ended the game and waited a bit in the Forge Lobby. A second later, a friend of mine who I play with pretty often comes online, so I invite him to look at my new map. He'd liked it while I'd been forging it so I assumed he'd like to see the finished product. So, we go into Forge and the 3 pieces that Spawn Zones center directly over were colored a very, very much lighter color than the rest of the blocks. It took me a bit to realize the trait that these blocks shared. We then went into a Custom Game where the Spawn Zones wouldn't show up and the blocks were back to their normal color. I tested this another time and found it to be true, but the effect still only happens in Forge. Has this been found before, or am I the first to notice it?
I assume it's possible to somehow keep the effect into a Custom Game. That's why I posted it, so someone could figure out for me.
Actually I have never seen this before. Plus, I just went into forge and try to recreate the circumstances, given the information that you have put out here, and saw no difference in the blocks with spawn zones and those without. So i have no idea what could be happening. If you don't mind me asking, what blocks were you using exactly?
2x3s and 2x4s. I can show you, actually. (Unless something dumb happens to me, like usual, and I look dumb.
yet again no difference in the lighting, I will have to join u june 6th seeing as I will not be on until then. Maybe somebody else has had this happen.
The game recalculates the lighting for all objects on the map when you save it, and tends to make the differences visible in forge less pronounced. I assume for the sake or rendering power, you'll notice that in forge an object will change brightness dramatically when you move it a small amount because there are only a few brightness levels shown in forge while you move the object. When you load up the map in custom games the real brightness will show up. In short, it's highly unlikely this will work in custom games unless we somehow find a way to glitch respawn areas to show up outside of forge.
Doesnt seem like the effect will be able to be shown in games other than Forge, as the spawn zones dont show up anywhere else apart from Forge. Unless you find a glitch, and if you find a glitch that may end up breaking the level with lag or some other unforeseen circumstance. Even if its light produced from an alternative light source, it still has to be processed by the engine and could cause it to chug. I dunno, this is just conjecture.
The map is in the back of the canyon (the side furthest away from the rest of Forge World). The glitch was very strange, Ive never seen it before, unless I just didn't notice it. It seems to not really matter though, as it was absent from custom games.
I would not have noticed, since what happens in forge stays in forge and is not seen in actual game play. I just learned to tune those things out.
