Just got home from work to find a thread on MLG saying that it's out. You have to go to Halo Reach via the A-Z titles in the Marketplace, then select Extras, then select View All Extras to see it. I'm guessing it'll be on the dashboard soon enough, though.

Post your thoughts on the new maps, I know I'll be running around and trying to get as much of a feel for them as possible then coming back with some in depth thoughts. I'm hoping I enjoy them as much as the previews have built up, Breakpoint in particular since I've felt that Reach is badly in need of another Invasion map.

If you're having trouble downloading on your console (I've heard that some people are unable to download from the dashboard, something about the price being wrong), then try this link: Product Page.

    It's up as normal now.

To be honest, I got so excited for the legendary and mythic map packs in halo 3 that I actually woke up early just to see if they went up.

This time I slept in and got up and started doing stuff before I even remembered that they came out today. Sad.

    my 5 minute first impression:
    they all look absolutely gorgeous.
disappointed with soft kill zones on the relic thing on tempest.
kinda wanted to forge around it, and im sure others were thinking the same.

Built-in kill zones on Tempest and Forge World suck. No idea why they made them so aggressive - people manage to break them anyway and the crappy maps forged in those weird little gaps in the zones never seem to have performance problems.

Apart from that - how forgeable is Tempest, Titmar? I watched a five minute video walkthrough or whatever but it didn't give a clear impression at all. All they said was that it had the largest object pallette outside of Forge World.

purchased, downloaded, solo walkthrough complete. I think anchor 9 is my fave of these 3, its really just a beautifully done space station, great symmetry for 4v4 or doubles, I can't wait to play it. can't at the moment :(

haven't done a full forge walkthrough, megapwn I am also curious to see how many pieces are on temptest. anyone check yet?

I love all three maps. Better than most of the default offerings. However, I'd advise sticking with Forgeworld for all of your forging needs.

Tempest has pretty much same options as forgeworld expect a smaller limit of pre-build structures and lower budget (just over 7k i got it down to) but you still have your 100 building blocks etc :-D WOO!

I really just want to do some forging on Tempest to change things up. Maybe it will inspire some different types of maps or give me a few new ideas. Is there much in the palette that isn't in Forge World?

well the man cannons look less covenant and more foreunner and i think there are 1 or 2 more rock formations, but nore much more than that. Of course The map its self would be best to forge around. Less green grass and more sandy style, different looking rock formation and different looking trees, a river and some more waterfalls.

Yeah, that'll do just for inspiring some new ideas. Forge World maps tend to divide into three categories right now: floating above the ocean, tree growing through the middle of them, or stuff planted in the canyon. :D (Obviously that's not ALL the maps, just being snarky. But I'd still like to see things change up a bit.)

Strangely enough, I wasnt excited at all for this. And definitely not nearly as excited as I was for some of the Halo 3 map packs.

Well because I dont have Xbox Live Gold, I wont be getting the Map Pack until next month. So my question to all who have gotten it is:

Is it good? Whats the best map? Are the maps Actually decent?

One thing I've noticed is that the callouts on Anchor 9 epitomise Bungie's lack of understanding of how callouts should actually work. For one, what kind of callout is 'Repair Operations', seriously? I could give grid coordinates quicker than I could say that, not to mention that callouts should be clear as well as concise, helping to aid smooth communication and avoid possible garbled calls.

Furthermore, the fact that two areas which are pretty much at opposite ends of the map have the same callout is insane. The turret tower in either base (Weapons/Repair being the two names given to the bases) and the area next to the low-grav zone are both called Weapon or Repair Wing. I genuinely question how much Bungie understand the purpose of callouts when they do stuff like this...

I am much more confused as to why none of the objects in Tempest are forgeable. Half the stuff is in the way of any interesting large scale map someone might want to make. They look like a lot of fun for gameplay as is, but I would really want to be able to get rid of all that stuff. I am also saddened that we have only the same amount and kind of forge objects from forge world. What about the cool relic-like architecture? I'd love to get my hands on that.

For what it's worth, they look like they will play pretty well. I'm excited to get some games on them soon.

i think the only cool thing about tempest is that is has driftwood and thats about it. you cant go far into the water, forge on any intresting objects, and i always feel cramped in forge mode. anchor 9 i wish you could a little further in space but i feels its reasonable. i think all the maps play very well though

You obviously did not forge much on Foundry ;) hahah but who am I to say. I don't have the maps yet. And you probably have forged on Foundry... but in my opinion (with the added phased options and open sky setting) Tempest seems like it'd be a fun one to refresh everyone's minds with different ideas.

The map I think will be my favorite is Anchor 9 honestly. I love the symmetric type gameplay look :)

Where can we play Breakpoint invasion?

Got an overkill my second game on anchor 9 and then went +25 on BTB Breakpoint :)

Yeah, I've played quite alot of games on Breakpoint so far but not one invasion game, so I pretty sure it's not in the DLC playlist. I seriously want to play Invasion on it though.

I think the maps are amazing but I am dissappointed that the killzones on tempest are so strict. Havent really played on them that much to pick a favorite yet.

Also, can you only do the new achievements on the new maps or during any games?

I went through Anchor 9 and love the zero gravity when you're outside the facility. Found all the power weapons as well.

I am currently looking through Break Point and holy crap! Mind you, I didn't waste my time watching any videos on this but this map is pretty huge for invasion. Not very crazy about their use of kill zones for phase unlocks, but oh well. I have only found 2 of the 3 snipers on this map. Anyone found the 3rd? Got both focus rifles and the rocket launchers. Found the grenade launcher as well... but can't find the 3rd sniper rifle for the life of me. I found the one in the cement tunnel and the one on the pipes below the wraith.
