If race isn't in the game hopefully it is put in later like bungie did with the "insane" game types, even if its not in matchmaking a race was great to through into customs every now and then. With assault being gone I think that extraction is an evolution of it and I didn't play much invasion and like the look of dominion better.
If race isn't a gametype in Halo 4 I'm gonna be pissed. I can't see any real reason for that happening. Then again, assault was removed. 343 tends to suck the big one.
Check it out "The environments will be large enough to accommodate just about any design you can think of, from a Lockout remake to a sprawling racetrack," Is this proof?
Assault has been more remodeled than removed. From what I have heard Extraction has a lot of very similar elements to it.
Oh I see. I wonder if it's anything similar to shadowrun. I sincerely doubt it though I assume so. But then again, 343 sucks the big one sometimes
I think that creating a Race gametype could be done by creating capture zones, similar to territories, with 1 second capture times. Not a perfect solution, but better than nothing. Definitely more finesse and trickery would be needed to make it work correctly.
Will there actually be Insane gametypes? If not, they will probably release both Race and Insane in another year, just like they did in Reach with the Insane and Rocket Race gametypes... which was lame. Would mean you can have only one on the whole track and that a round will end after one lap. Sounds useful, but far from perfect.
People will still make the gametype. Just takes a little creativity. For instance, we could use KotH for the "destination" instead of a VIP point. Race doesn't have to be a default gametype.
Sure they will, but it will be a hell lot easier to just give us the Race gametype again. I mean, why even take it out in the first place? Don't they realize tons of people loved that in Reach? It functions fine, and it's pointless to take it out because it doesn't hurt anybody. Now we have to go back to prehistoric tricks again.
I'm sure they have their reason(s) for taking it out. And it's not like they couldn't add it later in a Title Update. I wouldn't be too worried.
Their reasons are probably similar to the reason they took out the grenade launcher; because it wasn't used often enough. And counting on title update fixes is essentially wishful thinking, since it would require a big uproar for them to do something like that, and I doubt there will be much of an uproar outside of the small racing and forging communities. Even if it did come out in a title update, it took how long before reach got one? A year? I really wouldn't want to wait that long, especially when there's a high chance for disappointment.
Screw this, wait for November 1st. It's so close anyway. King of the Hill is a possibility if we can now control the order of the hill spawns, which is unlikely considering the effort CA put into Forge. It's like all we're getting are new textures and maps.
Well, they took out the grenade launcher because now with the ordinance system, if every possible power weapon isn't on par with each other, then you're getting screwed over by the randomizer. Anything in between is cut out, and sub-par items are just thrown in there for the hell of it. (AR ad Magnum). They could have done what they did to the needler, and buff it, but then it would really become too close to the rocket launcher... And we already have 3 of those.
I think you failed to realize how balanced the grenade launcher was... It's technically less powerful than the rocket launchers. It can be argued because you can ricochet a grenade and wait for it detonate but rocket launchers have such a large radius. If they did need to balance it, it wouldn't have been hard to change the damage modifier. It's essentially changing one number in a formula. I don't really care for the grenade launcher but I'm just saying...
You literally read only half of that, didn't you? That doesn't balance it much. It is a less effective rocket launcher that is harder to use. If one guy gets a random ordinance drop with a rocket and another guy gets a random ordinance drop with a Grenade launcher, then obviously one guy is ****ed, even though they accomplished the same difficulty of a tas, the guy who randomly got the Grenade launcher is being screwed over by te randomness. If you don't want him to be screwed over by the randomness, you can either take it out, or buff it. Obviously, then it wouldn't have much distinction between itself and the other THREE rocket weapons, so they just took it out entirely.
You have three options though. (I thought.) You're not forced to use any weapon, right? P.S. I'm saying balance isn't a valid excuse in this case. It was a pretty balanced weapon to begin with.
I liked Grenade Launcher too. Let's stay on topic now and discuss the removal of the Grenade Launcher elsewhere. (How about a new thread?)
I think everyone needs to chill out and wait for 4 more days. They announced griffball as a gametype but it is not listed under war games in waypoint or anywhere else. none of the reviews mention it etc etc. catch my drift?? if anything I bet there is an entirely different category of gametypes outside of war games which encompasses racing, griffball, stockpile (game proper sucked but who can deny how useful it was as a forge tool) etc. I'm content to sit and wait till the shiny disc is downloaded on my xbox before freaking out.
