Uhh...That's kinda not what I was talking about when I said in private messages to keep it professional.

I said use Bold, Italics, Underline in a way that is not annoying...

    This one, I just can't read...I'm sorry...

Its a pretty decent guide, and I hope it continues to grow. One thing I'd like to note is that Coldfront was made by Lightsout, not Gunslinger. Guns just featured it on the front page.

Its also important to make sure there are multiple points of interest on the map that hold strategic value. If there isn't any advantage gained by going to a certain portion of the map, then you'll find that part of the map empty during every game.

    Lol, close.

GraveDigger featured it(and that I'm not honestly certain of, but he is a journey, so I assume this is where the mistake was made.)

ANYWAYS, you've told me you fixed it.

I told you, yellows and pinks are not professional.

I'm not trying to sound like I'm hot ****, but you have a little more fixing to do.

Like the orange can go, as well as the purple.

Sorry for being so critical, but I'm just trying to help.

(P.S. You owe me three-hundred dollars for these lessons)

(P.S.S. I told you in Private Messages I can't be explaining these things, or I'ma have to charge you, lulz)

Not Valhalla Last Resort or Rats Nest?

ahh people like territories and CTF? that explains why the objective playlist is just thriving with players...

    extraordinary

I thought we were talking about aesthetics...

err coldfront uses maybe a third of avalanche... but yes, it does look quite nice.

my eyes hurt from your lavender colour...

    actually quite a decent point...

ok, here's the main part i have a problem with, if it's large map, chances are there's going to be quite long sight lines, and therefore you should place weapons accustomed to longer ranged fire fights (ie. the BR)
Assault Rifles rarely need to be placed in any map (since you spawn with them in most gametypes they are bound to be lying around everywhere) and they definitely do not need to be placed more often in larger maps. the assault rifles accuaracy at longer ranges is crap compared to a battle rifle, so if you place ARs you are trying to promote short range combat on a large map, in which case you might as well have made a smaller map.
and as for placing magnums on larger maps, you should place maybe one max, and that's purely for the humiliation factor they bring, because in the default gametypes they are virtually useless.

hmm... i thought it was populated because of the massive high ground advantage that it gave, and the fact that in objective games it worked as the defenders base...

    neglected

Ok, avalanche is possibly the best large map, it has 4 power-ups, 4, and they work perfectly. power-ups in large maps aren't nearly as effective as they are in small maps because since the map is so big, the chances of gaining the power up and coming into contact with an opponent before the power up runs out drop considerably, which in turn makes them less effective.

they should be used less in small maps, because (as stated above, in reverse) the chances of picking up the power up and then coming in to contact with the enemy before the power ups effect wears off is considerably higher than in large maps, thus making them more useful.

ok this statement confuses me, you start off saying that you should have a lot of equipment, then double back on yourself saying that three pieces is enough for the largest maps. i shall combat the second statement as that one makes more sense.
Yet again, Avalanche, the largest map in the game, has 9 pieces of equipment (4 Bubble shields, 2 power drains, one trip mine and 2 regenerators) and works fine.
it really depends on what kind of map you're making, and how the equipment could be used.

there are many maps larger than 3v3 that have no vehicles and have top notch gameplay, some examples are:

    Machu Picchu By LIGHTSOUT 225

Terminal By Matty and rusty eagle (The Hurricane)

    Cyclopean By NeverlessWonder

    Lockdown By iTs_NeXn

    Hype By SuperFeiGn

    @DifferentLevel By Sendernode

you never need vehicles, they are merely an addition to your gameplay, you can have larger maps without them.

then why obther placing a vehicle if you want to walk?

    taste the Reynbow

FootNote: Sorry if I seem as if I'm coming off a bit harsh, i just thought that it needed some correcting.

Next time I suggest you start making maps rather than posting a guide with too little first hand experience, I recommend you make 3-4 maps before you start making misinfromed guides.

You have like one posted map and seventeen failed maps that proberably have not gone through the testing phase you need to get feedback from testers to learn that is how to become an outstanding Forger.

Okay, I saw this guide posted this morning, looked at it briefly, and thought to myself that I would come home from work and read it to see what input I could offer. But apparently, through some harsh criticism, it has been undone. No guides for Jpec...

    Here's where I get ballsy;

skittle: I do hope that you saved the guide and that you are planning on revising it. Even in the light of such harsh criticism, it shows a lack of maturity on your part to just give up instead of adjusting your work to reflect the views of the more knowledgable and more experienced forge-hubbers around. I, for one, would very much like to see what you can do with the knowledge you've learned.
I will praise you, though, because despite your taking the guide down, you're standing up to the criticism of the other members very well. Maybe I should take that lead...nah.

Iv0rY: You criticize his spelling errors, and yet you have blatant capitalization errors strewn throughout your post, along with a few misleading links. <_<

roche: While you are apparently an experienced forge artist with a number of successful maps, you also apparently failed Web Forum Etiquette 101 (told you I was getting ballsy). Some of the very things that Skittle got called out for were things that you blatantly abused: bad spelling, bad grammar, and annoying formatting. While Skittle might not know exactly what he was doing in making this guide, at least he knows how to form a proper sentence.
Instead of flaming him for posting a guide as an inexperienced n00b and adding insult to injury by insulting the works he has made, why not just let him be? I think we'd all be better off if you'd simply neglected to post in this thread.

Now my rep's gonna go down. Yay! =D
