RPAL submitted a new map: Night at the Diner - What's on the menu tonight? Read more about this map...
This is absolutely super cool, I would say add a bus or something in front of the diner to help create a line of site blocker for that area for the zombie's to be able to creep around or even run through if you have the budget. The aesthetic's are amazing and I love that you built an outer surrounding area to create immersion for the diner area.
Played this in the most recent HaloCustoms testing lobby. If the humans go inside the building, they're ****ed because the diner's very tight, confined, and has so many different doors and entrances. If the humans stay outside the diner, the Infected are ****ed because of all the open sightlines. I would suggest balancing things out by adding a bunch of LoS blockers outside the diner and making the inside of the building less punishing for humans.
Hey Zandril, First of all thanks for jumping right into my map so quickly with your lobby. Is it possible you could elaborate for me your overall experience playing on the map and what people in your party thought? I actually watched your match in theater--as I usually do with my own test sessions--and I definitely agree that the outdoor area is not quite there yet. It's a lot better than it was prior to this week, but I'm still open to any suggestions that would make it as difficult as possible for the humans to survive outside. Thanks again!
The way the outside area is forged, the quickest fix is to add rocks, crates, cars, etc as LoS blockers. The ideal fix is structural cover with more confined areas, hills, tunnels. Although this might take away from the map's aesthetic. Up to you which one you choose. As for the inside of the diner, I think it's too easy for the Infected to kill people. Either reduce the number of entrances they have or allow humans to barricade some doors with crates or something.
Played this tonight and I enjoyed myself! The humans really had an advantage on the roof and outside on the edges of the map. Infection is hard to balance, but I think you are close. Definitely better than most of the infection maps in matchmaking.
Hey Dark, thanks for the comment and feedback! The version you played on today was my first attempt at rebalancing the outdoor area--as @Zandril and a few others suggested--within what was previously my very limited budget. Assuming the budget increases on every forge canvas with the new update, the possibilities for this map are going to be endless! I plan on getting the balance perfect over the next few weeks and I believe I will be able to fix even the smallest of issues with the map. So be on the lookout for that and thanks for joining us today!
