Microsoft has set Tuesday, August 11 as the date for the next big Xbox LIVE dashboard update. As previewed at this year's E3, the update will include three prominent new features—not all of those that were previewed, but still enough to satisfy some gamers. Maybe...

As far as gaming is concerned, the most prominent update will be the replacement of the Xbox Originals feature with the Games on Demand service, which will allow both Gold and Silver subscribers to get select Xbox 360 games digitally directly from Xbox LIVE. Some games expected to be in the service are Mass Effect, BioShock, Assassin's Creed, Sonic the Hedgehog, and LEGO Star Wars: The Complete Saga. Xbox.com will also offer instruction manuals of the games for download and print.

The other prominent new feature will be the Avatar Marketplace, which will expand the selection of Xbox LIVE Avatar clothing and accessories and add props to the mix. Some of the clothing and accessories will be emblazoned with actual brand names, while others still will be gamer-centric. It is important to note that many of these Avatar additions will cost Microsoft points—which must be purchased with actual money.

Finally, the update will improve Xbox LIVE's Netflix interface. Movie queues will be editable following the update, and the long-awaited addition of movie parties to the service will finally be offered (it was initially reported to be available when the New Xbox Experience first launched). Movie parties will take after Mystery Science Theater 3000, in which avatars sit in a virtual movie theater while commenting on what is on screen.

However, absent from the update will be some additional features that were previewed at E3. They include the 1080p video playback; video downloads with Zune owners; and Facebook, Twitter, and Last.fm integration. According to Microsoft, those features will be available "later this fall." I thought it was still summer...

I think there was already a thread before that talked about the new updates and had a full list. I'll go find it, I saw it a few days ago but I don't think it had pictures. The clothes are fairly expensive if you think about it.

    Edit:
here. Yeah here it is. Although you did cover some stuff that rifte didn't.
