NEW TURF A few profits from salvaged Scarab parts rapidly grew Turf to the commercial empire it is today. 1-16 players, all game types except Invasion. New Turf is inspired by my favorite Halo map of all time, Turf from Halo 2. It's kind of like a big team battle version of Turf. The background story is that supposedly Turf from Halo 2 made some money off of the broken Scarab parts and used it to better their city, evolving it over many years into what it is now, the map that I made. Turf and New Turf Similarities(If you're curious): -it's a city! :O -open road area -kind of inclosed city buildings area -short to mid to long range -warthog in the middle with a shotgun and plasma behind it -sniper across from the warthog -higher level across from warthog -red base is where the tent was -blue base is where the garage was -grenade launchers in place of brute shots Although this map is influenced by Turf, it is NOT Turf and is NOT supposed to be a recreation or remake of it, please don't misunderstand my post =] Main Pictures: Iconic Warthog and Shotgun Spawn: Spoiler Gas Station: Spoiler Rocket Spawn: Spoiler Red Base (Fire Station): Spoiler Water Drain and Bridge: Spoiler Blue Base (Hospital): Spoiler Playground: Spoiler Main Road*: Spoiler Side Street*: Spoiler Alley*: Spoiler Red Base 1st Floor*: Spoiler Red Base 2nd Floor*: Spoiler *Same as or similar to other side of the map. Extra Information: I forgot to mention that the the blue base, marked with an 'H' on both sides, is supposed to be the 'Hospital' and it has an elevator for a drop down from the 2nd floor. The red base, marked with an 'F' on both sides, is supposed to be the 'Fire Station' and it has a fireman's pole for a drop down from the 2nd floor. Other than those two differences they're exactly the same inside. Action Shots: They're at the Shotty Spawn!: Spoiler Alleyway Battle: Spoiler War on the streets: Spoiler Party: Spoiler Map Locations Overview: Spoiler Grenades: 8 Frag Grenades 7 Plasma Grenades Weapons: 8 DMR's 2 Plasma Pistols 2 Assault Rifles (full clips for ammo refill) 1 Needler 1 Rocket Launcher 1 Sniper Rifle 1 Shotgun Vehicles: 3 Default Warthogs 6 Mongooses (2 spawn 180 seconds after game start) Other: 6 Health Packs Why I Made New Turf: I made New Turf because I wanted a fun city-styled map that's compatabile with all game types (minus Invasion) with long, medium, and short ranged combat. It just turned out to be kind of... Turfy. Also I mainly wanted to create one map that looked nice aestheticaly and played equaly as well, more importantly I wanted to motivate myself to make a map that is compatible with all game types and also something I would enjoy messing around in with my friends when I'm bored. My Thanks: A TON of people helped me test out this map. It took a lot of time... (ask my girlfriend ) and I appreciate everyone who joined my games and play tested it with me. I even FURTHER appreciate those that invited me to THEIR games to play my map... It's an honor that you enjoyed my map so much that not only do you play it often, but you wanted me to join in on the fun. Thanks. Special thanks goes to FearsomeKiwi, my best friend and brother, who helped me with weapon placement, and special thanks to Lt Verwolf, who helped test the map many, many, many times and showed me how fun (and scary) Infection can be. lol. Another thanks goes to Forgehub for continuing to be an awesome Halo Forging community and giving me not only a place to share my map, but a place to download so many amazing others =] Final thanks to everyone who downloads New Turf, I hope everyone enjoys it as much as I did making and play-testing it =] Peace! -GtaTomV
I have to say this looks like mad fun! I'll download this and playtest it with my group. I'll drop by with some feedback later
THis looks like a fun map for BTB, although it kind of reminds me of a completely different game- Battlefield 2142. It was a semifuturistic battlefield game, and it had many of these large street based maps combining long sight lines with vehicular combat. If I were you, I would add some more cover on the streets, such as broken vehicles or debris, to make people cross them. This looks like a fun map for some battlefield esque gameplay (territores variant?). great job!!
Hey guys, sorry for the long delay in response, it's been a busy week! Pope Rex: Thank you, I look forward to it! =] its LEB: I did play a Battlefield game once and I actually wasn't a big fan of it. Originally, I was actually going to make the map all damaged and war-ravaged looking, but I decided a nice clean looking city would be more fun, less costly, less laggy, and more aesthetically pleasing... Now about the coverless, open roadways: I set up the spawning so you have a higher chance of spawning at your base, but you don't always spawn at your base. You'll be spawning across the road enough times during the game that it won't matter. The road is kind of like a tradeoff: risk your semi covered safety to get somewhere faster.
