Ok, I am so confused on how to make a clipping mask with text. I typed in my text and rasterized the layer. Then I go to new layer and apply the image then hit clipping mask. Nothing happens, Im confused.

    You don't use clipping mask.

You size the text to cover the signature. Then you use the color select and select the text. Erase the text, and hit copy visible. Then you paste, and resize.

If you are using Photoshop, there is a much better way to do this. Before you type the text, create a new Layer on top. With the new layer selected, go to Image>Apply Image. Make a new text layer and type your text. Move the text layer under the Applied Image. Clip the Applied Image to the Text by Alt-clicking the line between the two layers. Now, you can move around and edit the Applied Image as desired to create the text effect.

Edit: To feather an edge in Photoshop, Ctrl-click the text layer thumbnail. Then, go to Select>Feather. Type in the number of pixels you want to feather the selection by. Press Ok. Then, click the "Create Layer Mask" button in the layers panel.
