With the Warzone Firefight update, dozens of new REQ weapons are available for us to use on our maps in Forge. Naturally, many of them are much stronger than the weapon set we've been using. The player size that is the most likely to be affected by this significantly is 2v2. In Doubles, it is generally understood that there are certain weapons that are avoided due to the skill required to use them and their strong influence on a given match. So while larger player counts may be able to use more of the REQ sandbox, many of them may not be suited to Doubles gameplay. Therefore, let's use this thread to discuss which REQs would be the most appropriate for the 2v2 player count going forward.

For starters, let's look at Halo 2 Beam Rifle vs the normal Beam Rifle. Does the former have more magnetism than the latter? Or perhaps damage is scaled differently?

The void's tear is a force to be reckoned with.

It'd be really cool to see how it plays competitively. I'd love to see more unique power weapons on maps now.

Glad you mentioned this. Voids Tear was the first weapon that made me think how awesome some of the REQ weapons would be in 2v2 or other player counts. Will be fun to experiment with.

I'm seriously considering Void's Tear for Golden Grunt.

I think a good choice would be the saw with rocket ammo. Would be interesting to see how that plays competitively

If you take the closed fist and combo it with the magnum you get a whispered truth with more recoil, larger magazine, and no silencer. It works well on my 2v2 map Tlaloc, so I'd say it's balanced.

I want to experiment with the Void's Tear, but it might need to have its ammo drastically reduced. It breaks shields completely in just 2 shots, making that and a quick headshot switch incredibly deadly. The accuracy penalty is almost entirely negated by zooming in. On the other hand, the charge shot makes for an interesting projectile that can kill in one hit, but can be reacted to appropriately. I was thinking to give it somewhere between 8 and 15% battery, as each single shot takes up 0.5% battery. Give players 2 full charges, but modify the number based on how many single shots you want to give players.

Closed Fist may work as an alternative to an existing close range weapon, as it fires much faster and is able to pull off some crazy fast 2-hit beatdowns. Same goes for the Song of Peace, as it's a general buff to an otherwise mediocre weapon.

As for anything else, I don't think the available REQ weapons in Forge are worth placing down as they would be way too strong for 2v2s. I would also like to see some weapons swap out for other variants(projection SMG, Classic BR, stabilizer BR). I would personally steer away from AR and Magnum variants as they would just be straight upgrades to your current starting weapon and create some confusion when you see a weapon similar to the one you already have.

Regular plasma caster is already a really strong weapon in the hands of a skilled player
