Same here, Though she should have counter-sued because of this, but i was surprised that she didn't :/
Serves her right for watching New Moon. Nah, I kid, this type of so-called 'crime' is just ridiculous nowdays. Seriously, you have to be careful to even get your phone out in the cinema these days. If anything, the worker should have just warned them. There's not really any need to go that far unless the equipment on said person is, well, it could distincly be used for pirating. Ah well, crap happens.
Sure, it is ridiculous, and she never should have had to spend any time in jail, but, seriously, if you want to record a birthday party, you should have the common sense not to do so in a movie theatre...
However, Movie Theatre's do promote Birthday parties. And anyway, If it was that much a problem to have a camera in the Building in the first place, wouldn't they have already taken the camera away when they entered the Theatre or main lobby? (Because again its a family party so no one would be 'hiding' a camera from anyone..)
I hate it when people blow things like these out of proportion and try and throw people in jail. I did think it was nice how the police were friendly and the Director of New Moon tried to help.
In this case, she deserves something. It's not like they didn't know what they were doing was illegal.
