I found a couple notes for this scrawled in a drawing pad that I used to plan Halo 3 maps in. The premise is simple: while teams still gain a point for killing an enemy, they also lose a point for each death. The result is a tug of war where a winner is decided ultimately when one team manages to surge ahead and post up a large enough margin to reach the score limit. The score limit would need to be low, say 5 or 10, and there would be a time limit of 5 or 7 minutes or so. The idea is that it would hinge on teamwork and create really great intensity between evenly matched teams. A time limit would be necessary, as a game could otherwise go on endlessly. The problem I have though is negative scoring. As soon as one team gets a kill they're two points ahead, because the other team drops down to -1. The effect is kind of still the same, but the scoring system gets a little muddled. Anyone got any idea for a way around this?
This was a gametype in action sack in Halo 3. If you're going to make it, rid of any power weapon and vehicles. Whenever I played with my clan we'd grab them and always win.
