i was checking out your different forge tips/techniques and it seems you covered everything except for one thing. There is an alternate and easier way to make objects float or stay in a difficult possision. you may know this but if you are in control of an object you can place it where you want it to be, then save and quit. When you start the game again, the object will be in that spot whether its floating or on the ground. just a suggestion
That's cool that you found it on your own (or friends, whatever), but try using the search function next time. Searching "save and quit" would have brought up many, many threads about it.
