I have been hearing from some of my friends who are high ranked or who have friends working for Bungie saying something about armor coming out for only people in the ranks starting at field marshell. any proof its true or not would be very much appreciated.
Dont think this is true, although it might be based on some fact. The Haunted helmet is only available to Bungie employees and those few, brave souls who reach the Inheritor rank. So theres that, I guess.
haunted requires own all helmets be inheritor rank costs 1cR some attachments do require a certain rank to own them, like I want to buy the last attachment for the security helmet, but you need to be a hero or legend. also the last attachment for the gungnir you need to be mythic or something.
What "new" armor would come out, since everybodys racing to unlock the haunted helmet? Im pretty sure Bungie still has time to make an armor update.
They simply cannot. It would have to have been precoded into the game, otherwise they would have to release an update for every single campaign mission and video, theater mode, forge, and all of the multiplayer maps, which would end up being nearly 10 gigs. Thats not possible. However, if you use the hologram glitch there are some armors that do not appear in the regular list, such as a chest plate with a knife on the back, Jungs right shoulder (the one with nothing but a knife,) and a really interesting helmet. So its possible that there may be a few.
Interesting helmet? Is there one precoded in the game that doesn't appear on the list? If you've seen it or have an image, could I see it?
10 gigs for a new helmet? that makes absolutely no sense. all that a helmet is made up of is code. The textures are already in the game, the code would contain the 3D information, it would be a few kilobytes at best as an update. And no, they wouldn't have to update each individual mode, they would just have to update the game. Like when you go to play a game online and it says "A New update is available for this game". It would be a remarkably simple process to add helmets or other armor pieces, I don't understand at all how you think that a few pieces of armor could equal 10 gigabytes of storage space, I mean, the entire game isn't 10 gigabytes. The update process isn't so all-encompassing. Players update their xbox, they update their server, its so simple. It's a relatively small injection of code.
I think what he's saying is that the armour perms are included in each map and campaign level as opposed to being independent files which are sourced when needed. As far as I know this was true in H3 and was why new ones couldn't be added (and why Recon had to be included but locked rather than being a DLC), and it could well be true of Reach as well. They may have changed this to enable downloadable armour, they may not, I don't think anyone who hasn't had a look at the game code in a bit more detail or knows about these things could say for sure. Either way, the update wouldn't be bigger than the game itself, so yeah 10 gigs was a bit overboard, but a patch to all those files would be sizeable.
Actually, I think a Bungie member, Evil Otto, stated that such a DLC could take upwards of 9 gigs. It makes sense, really. You basically have to release an update for every single campaign mission, multiplayer map, and cutscene. Its basically replacing every piece of content on the disc, sans menus and stuff that doesent display custom armour. That being said, Ive being doing some research, and Ive found that there exists something called Disc Lock Content, which is content that is locked inside a game disc and cannot be accessed by players OR hackers. Only a special DLC "key" can unlock it. It has been said that DLC key items, such as the flaming helmet and Recon helmet (pre-order only version), did not show up in leaked videos displaying the entirety of the armory pre-release... and from what I recall, this is true. I dont remember seeing the flaming helmet in any videos... but I could be wrong. Assuming its true, Bungie couldve hid any number of different armors in the coding, and kept it locked from hackers.
It basically depends whether or not it was planned from the start. If it wasn't it might still be feasible by patching the game code to load an external source before loading all the game content.. Either that, or if an unrecognised helmet was detected, it would replace it with a default one in campaign to make it that bit easier. Or it could simply have a matchmaking armoury section where players choose certain armour for matchmaking only so the whole game itself doesn't have to be updated. What Yoyo was trying to explain that was it isn't as simple as putting another helmet in the armory for you to select, it's hard coding that helmet into every scenario of the game.
Yeah, I was just about to say this, but: The armor everyone is seeing in the hologram is glitched. The game is taking attachments from certain peices and sticking them on to other peices. Ive seen E.V.A with the final E.O.D attachement on it, and Ive seen E.V.A with the second ODST attachment on it. Its just glitched, and it does it with chests and shoulders too.
I still wish we could have the Waypoint chest pieces without the damn grenade belts, like in the Beta... or that the ODST helmet had the attachment for the camera, like Mickey's helmet in ODST.
Step 1: Get to a really high level (I forget which exactly) Step 2: Be a scrooge and save 300000 credits Step 3: Buy Gungnir Step 4: Change armor color.
I don't see why you would. Obviously there's no way to change your visor color other than the purchasable silver, blue, black, and yellow. I also don't think I've seen any spartans with visor colors other than this.
