Hi, I have been working on a 1v1 map for a few days, and it is a fairly open spaced map. I'm having trouble deciding how the custom power up should affect the person when he picks it up. Also there is a sniper on the map that spawns in 160 secs with no extra clips , in case that it affects the custom power up. At first I thought about increasing the speed of the player and damage for 15 secs to the player, at a cost of the power up respawning at 120 sec, but then I began to have doubts, so comment and share what you think I should do.

I believe it depends on the size of the map, and the general gameplay of the map. For example: Since this is a 1 v 1 map, 15 secs isn't really much and is good enough for 1-2 kills and 3 kills if you are lucky (Assuming that spawning is almost instant and the map is really tight and small). In other words, having the custom power up wouldn't be a bad thing in my opinion. Because I doubt spawning is that fast and that the map is as small as I imagine it.

    Hope I helped?

For those of us who like to time weapon spawns (I assume you know enough to drop spawn the sniper) please put it on a multiple of 60 or 30 so it's not annoying to predict the spawn.

CPUs should never modify too many things at the same time, and any downsides of picking it up should be in the same area as the benefit. Don't give improved speed and damage or damage and health. Don't have improved health but less damage. Something original could be giving increased jump height or decreased gravity but how that would work depends largely on the map. Images would help with that.

@Hitsuga, the map itself is fairly open with some tight spaces sprinkled around, as for spawning, I'm pretty sure there's alot of places to spawn.

@pyro, thanks for the advice, I will see what I can do about the sniper, as for the CPU, I will tweak it until perfection according to the map, which is not done yet, I still need some tweaks and adjustments

I already did that with Gallant, and Longshot is working on one based around it.

CPU's are always a hard thing to really decide on, the customization is virtually endless, but as said it largely depends on the maps design. If the map itself is more fairly open, then I'd focus more on damage resistance than the other statistics,. Reason behind this is you honestly cant predict how good of a shot or the player who picks up the CPU is, so the increased damaged could simply go to waste, increased speed would also benefit. But you cant always tell when to much speed is map breaking without a good deal of testing. I myself would never give more than a 120% speed bonus or so, leaving both players still balanced for the most part depending on position and skill.

Also do you plan to include any special armor ability on this map? As far as the sniper have you tried placing its respawn on 120 secs? This would help to counter the CPU as well.

Replace the CPU with a Mongoose.

You perhaps are able to post some pictures of the project Legend? Maybe able to tell more about what needs to be done :).

It's not quite done yet, I will work on it and post some pics when I get back from Kansas.
