Alright, its real simple, only takes a second. Im making a map, its in the style of say.. Guardian or Ascension, only symmetrical [cause thats how i roll]. I am placing weapons, but the map is only has so many spots for weapons. I have one location left, but two weapons to pick from. Both will work well in my eyes, but i am unsure of which i want. Please pick which you'd rather see just based on personal taste, and maybe it will help me decide better. Brute Shot Vs. Needler.
I'd say pick the needler. If it's of the same shape as any of the maps you mentioned, it'll help greatly with taking out enemies from afar, but still leave you vunerable at CQB. I just feel that a needler will give you some 'depth' into the map. Unlike the brute shot, the needler isn't as you would say, overpowering in any sense, so long as there is sufficient cover. In my opinion, I think the brute shot may be a little strong in some instances. But to put perspective on it, it depends on the weapons you already have on the map. So my view on this could change either way. I'm no expert but hope this helped a little.
Needalers have the added advantage of not getting your map broken. Also, not many people rush for the Brute Shot (not that many rush for the Needler either, but it just carries more of an incentive).
Depends on what other weapons and equipment you have on the map, which grenade sets are you using on the map. Personally I prefer the Bruteshot, but I can't make an educated decision without any other information than it's symmetrical and you need to place a weapon. So I'd help, but I need a few questions answered. Are there vehicles on the map? What weapons are on the map so far? What equipment is on the map so far? What kind of structures/cover surround the area where your outting the bruteshot/needler? What gametypes are the focus of your map so far? I think you'll get better feedback if you answer those questions.
It really depends on the layout. If its long hallways or open spaces, the needler would be uber efective. If its tight corners or a map on the y scale, a bruteshot would be uber effective
Like Mace said, it all depends on the layout of the map. You said it's Guardian and Ascension like so I'm assuming there's some open areas and the rest of the map is some rooms and walkways between the rooms. I would say brute shot for sure for this layout. I'm also assuming there's a shotgun on your map since you always have shotguns in your maps. In Guardian, the mancannon room gets camped with the shotgun a lot, the brute shot isn't on Guardian, but if it were, it would be effective in clearing the room out. The Brute Shot is the ultimate camping stopper against close-range power weapons, so if you think you're going to run into some camping troubles with which ever close range power weapon you have, use the brute shot. However, if there is more of a chance for a sniper or long range weapon camping issue, the needler is more effective. If you catch a sniper off guard with the needler, the sniper is done in a matter of seconds.
Uno, there is infact a brute shot on Guardian, i use it frequently. Dos, there is infact a shotgun on this map. You know me well, however I also have a sniper for each team on the map and the shotgun is neutral. I also cannot see the shotgun being extra effective like it is in Guardian, so i wont worry about that unless testing tells me otherwise. The map is a central area with a floating platform and the power weapons are the two snipers, a shotgun and a laser. Theres two power drains and no powerups. The rest of the map is roughly like Blackout/Guardian where there are several walkways. Ive potentially gone with the needler because i see the brute shot becoming too powerful and while each team has one, the person who has it would be a wrecking ball. The needler will be somewhat powerful, but easily stopped if in the wrong part of the map. Thanks for the help all.
