With my current map almost complete, I've begun thinking about new forge ideas, when I realized something.

    I want to much.

I have all these ideas, but when looking at them, they are are incredibly too expensive or would take way more than the object limit.

Anyway, aside from admitting my faults, I do have a question -

Does anyone else here sketch out forge ideas ahead of time?

Or am I the only one?

I think everyone here sketches their ideas ahead of time

or at least I know I do...

Yes always sketch ahead of time. Use Kinetica to see how much money and objects you use and use that model you make to forge it. I can't tell you how many unnecessary headaches it has saved me.

YouTube- Getting started with Google SketchUp

You need to DL the Forge objects too.

It is highly reccomended to sketch your ideas ahead of time. It isn't truly neccesary, but as I said, highly reccomended. Many forgers, such as myself, MetaWaddleDee, and Phenomenal, use this and develop the greatest of map ideas because of the simplicity of it. As Phenomenal said, kindly, take my sketchup, Kinetica, for example. If I tried to forge that off the top of my head without sketching it, I would be constantly thinking what to do next, and I would probably come nowhere near such a complicated design as it became. If you sketch it and check your item/money limits, you can forge a lot faster and more confidenty, knowing that you won't run into money or object problems while creating your map. It's also quick and erasable, so if you have an idea you can quickly see what it looks like in a matter of minutes, and can easily find what else needs to be edited. If you want to succeed in the art of good map design, sketch your design, or use sketchup.

Click Here to view my in-depth relpy to MousseMoose about Sketchup; how to use and get the objects. I really reccomend you use sketchup, as a fellow forger, because it helps a whole lot with map theory and planning.

I always sketch before making a map but that usually gets screwed the first time I go into player mode to check if the flow paths are good. As for the OLN I have found that by keeping the default objects and budget glitching, I can get much farther than I expected. Just keep a few projects going at a time so you end up taking breaks where you can re-design the map.

they allow you to change you mind many a time before you actually start, and also, you'll remember your original ideas about it.
