Actually, I don't know if it is mine or my dad's (I would like to believe it is his, it often cannot perform simple tasks lately), but today my dad was contacted by Qwest letting us know that we've been blacklisted as spammers, and they will be removing our internet. So, I need to detect which computer has the bot, and then remove it. Thing is, I don't quite know how. I know where I can go to see my computers activity, and how active it is. If it is mailing out millions of emails a day like they said it is, I feel like it will be quite obvious which one is working harder. I also know (well kinda) how to go to a place where I can check all currently running programs, and then find which ones are registered by Microsoft and other known companies. Anyway, I kinda know that stuff, but if anyone can tell me how to detect, locate, and remove this from our computers before we lose, it would be much appreciated. I would like to avoid getting our computers checked by a computer tech...
Recognize and Avoid Computer Infection: Zombies and Botnets Some Info i looked up real quick. Iv Read in one of my computer books a bit ago that spyware, adware, etc, install a program covering as a usefully program so it doesn't get deleted by the user. Then it does thing when the user isent there or if its bad enough, when the computer is off. Once then the "spam" as we say is sent to other computers and infected as well. Sorry for the lecture but i thought you might want to know. If i get anything else important ill edit this post.
What is "Qwest"? Why do they have the right to shut down your internet and turn your computer into a zombie? Report them, FBI will sort em out.
