Well, I've never seen anything like this before. I'm usre if i keep turning it off and on it'll eventually recognise that it's had it and show some red lights. But anyway. It first happened when I was playing left 4 dead 2. It happened right after I got incapped by a witch, set on fire, and spat on by a spitter, so I wasn't in a good mood anyway. I got revived and healed, and at a quiet moment, the entire game froze, like this: Nothing responds once these vertical lines show up. The sound stops, the only movement onscreen are the white lines themselves, which sort of flicker and ****. It'll happen sometime after I reset it if I reset it immediately. Here you can see that it froze during the Xbox 360 intro part, like less than 5 seconds after I turned it on. It'll now freeze after about 40 minutes of it being on. It will work completely normally up until when it freezes. It'll freeze regardless of it playing a game or just being left idle on the dashboard. And the lines are often different. One other thing worth noting, is that it gets hot through the case in only one place. I have it horizontally, and after it freezes I can feel an abnormally warm spot just below where "XBOX 360" is engraved into the case. I think it's probably the GPU or something, any ideas?
lolololol i got rrod yesterday. at first it'd freeze when loading up, like in your second picture. then, it'd just **** all over itself. im done with xbox. can't wait to pocket some cash after selling my games.
This happened to me on my first xbox...It started freezing like you said then it RRoD about a week later...very frustrating. Just hope your xbox isn't three years old lol.
Mine did that while playing "SONIC THE HEDGEHOG". It then immediately Red Ringed. Well, at least I didn't hafta' play that load of shite anymore.
Yeah that happened to my xbox. It lasted for a month or 2 before it got RRoD. It was really annoying while it lasted though.
Open it up? Lol Anyway, I'm now going to leave it on until it gets the lines, and turn it off and on until it red-rings. Wish me luck :/ --- EDIT: Success! But then it worked fine for like an hour and a half until I got bored and turned it off and came back on here...
im on my second xbox. the first wouldnt read disks anymore so i gave it to my parents to stream netflix. went out and bought a new one from best buy and made sure i got the geek squad warranty this time . now if anything happens i can have it fixed here in town instead of sending it in.
I got RODD half a year ago, i left it on next to a fan for an hour. Surprisingly it worked and every time RODD comes back i do the same method. Just recently i fixed my brothers Xbox as well.
I hear they came out with a new series of xbox, around September 2008, that are immune to RRoD. If your xbox was bought before that, look into buying a new one. Even an arcade version is fine if you already have an HD and HDMI cables.
buy a new one? dood, last time I checked, the average joe can't go out and buy a 300 dollar xbox on a whim.
If the PS3 isn't immune to breaking, then I can guarantee the model you speak of isn't. I sassume you mean the 'Jasper build'. The failure rate is still something like 17%. Mine is the Falcon build, as I bought it in December in 2007. One other things though: someone online yesterday told me that if you ahev to send back the same xbox 360 (or presumably any replacement consoles MS give you instead), they give a new xbox 360 elite instead. Is this true? --- To say nothing of the average joe student about to go to uni...
Microsoft have recently released the "Valhalla" motherboard revision which I think they said will cut the RRoD rates by 70%. Anyway back on topic. Is your Xbox still under warranty?
Dude, last year when I was recording for Insane's Forging Class, my Xbox snapped and the exact same thing happened. It ****ing Snapped. And Sticky Heard it. But yeah. Yours was done for once that happened. It really sucks.
****, ****! I've had them send the box, but do UPS wait at the door for you to package it? What if you're not in?? --- No but because I've had it for less then 3 years and because I haven't opened it up or done anything stupid like that they'll fix it and send it etc. for free!
Well, at least you're not giving up on xbox. They may be ****, but hey, they have some damn good games.
