    Map Name: Moonroof
    Players: 4-10
Gametypes: Slayer, KOTH, Capture the Flag (might want to set scoring to flag at home for CTF)
    My gamertag: mr see

NOTE: MAP IS SET UP FOR GREEN vs GOLD. If you don't set your team to green and gold you'll only spawn in the middle of the level and not in the bases.

After forging around 10 maps I've come up with 3 that I'll be posting, unless this first one doesn't go so well.

This map was originally supposed to be enclosed, but I encountered some wonky forge lighting issues after using too many objects and ripped off the roof (which may not have completely helped the lighting) and named the level Moonroof. It's a symmetrical, two-base map with a multi-tiered structure in the middle between the two bases. I had CTF in mind while forging but it works great for Slayer and KOTH. The bases at each end, one green and one gold, are in a roofless rectangular room that's completely surrounded by a mongoose "track" made from station pieces on Impact. The Mongoose track is accessible at each base's back entrance and at side entrances near the middle of the map. There are two mongooses on the map, located at the side entrances to the track, and are great to drive through the entire level, even into the bases, especially if you have rocket buddy passenger.

There are 2 rockets -- one at each back entrance to the base (might have too much ammo at this point), a sword in the middle and a symmetrical dispersion of other weapons (shotties, sticky detonators, needlers, assaults, etc). I've also got one turret at each base that can be reached by jumping on a little column up to the top of the tunnel piece. Also, lots of grenades on the map and they are all ordinance drops so they can be easily seen. Each weapon also sits atop a capture plate so they're pretty easy to see, too.

It's supposed to be a relatively straightforward map that will rely on some kind of team strategy to win. When testing, the mongoose track came in handy to avoid any battles going on in the middle of the map so it ended up adding another layer. It is kind of a pain to walk around the track itself, but if you have a mongoose it works well.

There are certainly some things I can fine tune or change, especially if anyone comments on the map, so I'll keep anyone who is interested updated.

    Enjoy.

Green and gold? Why not red and blue? Those two are the most basic and it might make some people unhappy? I'd say redo this map as multi team with green and gold, if that's what you want to do. Of course, it's my opinion only.

Thanks, tried to go for something simple yet still fun to play.

    Edited by merge:

Zig -- the previous 9 maps I've made (including the 2 others I have to post) all have red and blue initial spawn points, but for the 10th map I went 'crazy' and did green and gold. Ha, hopefully no one will actually become unhappy because of that decision.

Either way, I respect your opinion and thank you for the comment and I actually have no problem making a red/blue version of this map. All I have to do is change the initial spawn colors and the colors of the blocks. But for now, Moonroof will stay green and gold because... it makes me happy.

    Thanks again.

to resolve the color dispute, just make sure it is REALLY clear in the description of the map file that you must use Green/Gold so that no one can select it from their list and not realize it or remember.

Something like this: "This map is for teams labelled as GOLD and GREEN" or something similar so that those two words are in CAPS...

I don't think it's a problem that you want to use different team colors, BTW.

That's a great suggestion that I didn't think to do. I'll go ahead and add that to the level description later today.

    Thanks.

If I were you I'd just leave the object colors as is and make the team spawns red and blue. Who cares if red team spawns in a yellow area? The only important thing is to have clear visual indicators differentiating the sides of the map so people know where they are; you don't need the areas to always be red and blue specifically.
