Well i'm not much for forging, i usually dont have the patience to do it, but i decided to hop onto forge earlier and just toy around with things, 7 hours later i have this haha, and i'd like to improve it to have some top notch playability. I just capped off the map about 15 minutes ago so it hasnt been tested at all, which ill get to in the next few days or something. So any advise or if anyone wants to help test soon please comment! Anyways to the map... Map Name: Mooks Players: 6-12 (just guessing) Game Modes: Team Slayer (will also add KOTH and CTF when i get a good feel of the map) I wanted to get an open look this so to explain it here are the pictures (i took alot lol) Spoiler Red Base Spoiler red spawn Red alley to sniper ramp Red sniper ramp View of Red Side from sniper sword alley from red side grenade alley from red side Main way view from red side Blue Base Spoiler blue spawn Sword alley from blue view of blue from sniper grenade alley from blue Everything else: Overview of Blue Overview of Red (also shows middle with ramp to sniper) Room under middle shotgun inside middle room needler spawn on middle platform Grenade launcher in grenade valley Once again this is my first competitive forge map, so let me know what i can do to improve, thank you
This looks like a decent map for a first forge. Lots of elevation changes. Looks nice. If your looking to learn something, I guess I'll explain how z fighting works. In the second last picture, the 3 x 1 blocks are looking pretty sketchy. You have them merged on the same height. To fix it, grab one of the pieces that is glitching. Hold down the right stick and then press lb or rb. It's a smaller adjustment on the piece. So that it's smooth to walk over and also looks nice. It happens everywhere though, so make sure you take a quick look and see if there's any other spots that are z fighting. And make that slight adjustment.
Thank you haha, but if I made a small adjustment to the height wouldnt that make the surface uneven? I saw this problem last night and i didnt know how to fix it lmao
If you select the object, and tap the A button and either Right or Left bumper at the same time, the object should be moved VERY slightly up or down. This is a good way of eliminating any Z fighting AND making sure your map has as few major bumps as possible.
There might be a small bump but nothing too noticeable, and it also prevents later problems such as frame rate lag. Pretty good though for your first!
