Mogadishu, Somalia. 1993 A raging civil war in Somalia has triggered a massive humanitarian response from the U.S. and the U.N. Skirmishes between the rebels in Somalia and the U.N. soldiers have been deadly. American losses are light, but the citizens at home are frustrated with the lack of progress in Mogadishu. America needs a clear victory. The Somalis will give anything to stop that from happening. __________________________ My idea for a Mogadishu map is Falcon-centric on the human side and close-quarter urban fighting on the Elite side. It would be an invasion gametype. A large, sprawling city with several building complexes will make up the main objectives. However, I need help determining how to design the map from that point on. I wish to replicate the helicopter crashes that so immortalized this battle; however, I do not want to force any pilot to crash. Please, if you have any ideas for this, throw them out there. Your opinion can do nothing but help. Thanks! Fiat Lux Mortem!
You can try just giving the elites splazers or something to take out the falcons, but I don't know how that would effect your close-quarter combat. You could also make it where the spartans must use the falcons to get there so that everyone doesn't just walk in order to avoid the mass falcon destruction. This would also make the rooftops a common destination, which would increase traffic through the insides of the building providing you with some excellent close-quarter combat.
I like that. I'm going to have Warthogs available later in the game, presenting a new way to get into the battle; however, it would take longer to get places and would create a feeling of vulnerability moving through cramped streets with tall buildings all around. I think I might have rockets instead of splasers, to forge a more authentic RPG feel.
You don't need to forge an entire city. Just consider one cross section with a forged crashed blackhawk at the center. Some inter connected building would be great, access to the roofs, etc.
This would be cool. That Idea reminds me of driving a warthog in turf. Small claustrophobic city scape barley any room to drive or fly, plenty of infantry hiding spots. You know a small quarry map might work. Or you can forge in tempest as it is small and already has some forerunner structure to it. Make one small parking lot and landing pad for the falcon and warthog (machinegun) to respawn. Set the falcon for very long and put a flight ceeling over it with a kill area. Make only a small loop or a figure 8 road for the warthog to fit and allot more allyways as short-cuts for infantry ambushes. Make plenty of high rise buildings that force the falcon to fly around (not over) and put it on a predictible path. Rockets and Fuel Rod guns are your best friends here. If the vehicles are constrained enough you wont need any power weapons like lasers and plasma launcher.
