Infinity Ward's community manager Robert Bowling revealed new details about the upcoming Resurgence Package, the second multiplayer map pack for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2. In an interview with Microsoft's Xbox Live director of programming Larry "Major Nelson" Hryb, Bowling confirmed the pack will include three all-new maps and two previously released maps from Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare. The pack will also cost $14.99 (1200 Microsoft Points) and will be available first on Xbox Live starting June 3. Here are the details on the three new maps: Carnival – Desolate amusement park with excellent vantage points for snipers. It's "unlike anything we've ever done before," said Bowling. The map takes place during the daytime and includes all original art and model assets. Bowling added that the team really wanted to include this in the first map pack, but the team needed additional time for polish. It's a fairly large map and includes many set pieces, such as roller-coasters, a fun house, and bumper cars. Trailer Park – Contains tight corridors and condensed areas. Very maze-like with obvious choke points. In context of the game, this map is the living quarters for the people who run the Boneyard level found in Modern Warfare 2's singleplayer campaign. The Boneyard will be viewable in the background. Fuel – Completely unique from the other maps. The setting is an oil refinery and is split into two sections. One area is wide-open for snipers and the other half is a large warehouse with tight corridors. The final two maps, Vacant and Strike, will both be getting a slight visual upgrade as well as small design changes. These two maps are already available to play in Call of Duty 4. The Resurgence Map Pack releases on June 3 for 1200 points. Copied from Ign.
I don't think I'll buy this one. I bought the last one, and now I don't even play MW2 anymore. It was kind of a waste.
Since I don't really play MW2 anymore, I'm not buying it. Honestly, I believe these maps are going to be another disappointment, just like the first ones and the game in its entirety. It got bad after the first two days of playing.
I like the remakes of the CoD 4 maps, thats is the new maps form the first mappack sucked **** except for overgrown and crash.
I liked the 1st map pack maps, aside from one (idk the name, its the apartment complex one) and I have been waiting for Strike from cod4. Will buy.
I intend on buying these maps...I don't play MW2 a ton but I don't think it's that ridiculous to spend $15 on 5 maps I'll play for a few hours.
Vacant was one of my favorite maps ever. Now with FMJ I have no clue how this could get better. I would buy this map pack just for vacant.
I think I'll buy this map pack, however, I'm going to have to get another 1600 ms points since I spent 1200 on the VIP access for BF: BC2. So now, I only have 900 ms points. To bad this won't keep me active in MW2 for long. I will probably buy the maps, play them for a few days, and go back to my other games.
i'm kinda OCD with not having ALL the maps, for any game.... so even though MW2 is probably only 20% of my gaming I'll still buy it. Fighting in a funhouse sounds... well, fun
This. Vacant and Strike sell this pack all by themselves (on top of that they look sexy as hell), however Carnival immediately sparked my interest. Honestly who else hasn't wanted to have a gun fight in a carnival?
I'm still on the fence about this one. The maps look aesthetically appealing, with the exceptions of Vacant and Strike, since the murdered CoD4's atmosphere, but the Trailer Park and Carnival are very interesting concepts, because it seems like they've never been done before, and look generally good for gameplay due to the lack of long sight lines. In MW2, longer the range of weapons the map promotes, the worse it plays, because then you get assault rifle sniping. At the same time, smaller the map the more knifing and shotgun "secondary" users lurk. And when I say lurk, I mean Marathon Lightweight Commando frustration. Another thing I hope this'll do is change the map designs up a bit, I'm tired of playing maps that are two long parallel basic shapes that are connected to three perpendicular paths to cross, that are parallel to each other, with at least the middle path being a death trap (I'm looking at you, Rundown, Afghan, Underpass, Salvage, Terminal, Karachi, Invasion, Skidrow, etc).
yeah im going to buy it... if only for the CoD4 maps. plus trailer park doesn't look too bad. the carnival one's just creepy lol. running into a clowns mouth, atrocious lmao
Not going to buy right away, with splinter cell and (soon) red dead to play, I'm set for videogames for most of the summer. However, if all of my friends buy it, I will just to have fun with them.
