Nobody was paying Makarov, or atleast noone we have been introduced to. He was at the top of the tree. The idea of Makarov having a superior was Shephards lie to get the go on the mission and persuade Allen to go through with it.
if one Russian group or another took price to the gulag, why not Soap as well? He was in their hands as well.
Nah, Makarov thought he was one step ahead. He was thinking that Allen was actually a spy and that he would make an example of it. So, he shot him, but I don't think he wanted the Russians to invade. That's a side effect he didn't think would happen. The example would let him escape blame, to add fuel to his cause. Matty, Shepherd just got rid of 141 because he was getting paranoid. Probably because Makarov recovered that information before Ramire'z could get it. Naturally, he couldn't suddenly call of his unit. He needed time to take them out and he needed them to not suspect when he made his move. Shepherd wanted more patriots so he caused russia to invade. That only made America look like a jackass, but America look like a jackass. It wasn't America's fault, but there is still a lot of tension leftover from the Cold War. Most youth probably don't understand why there is reason for it, but there is. I think it's an issue can't ignore today. The possibility is there, but it seems foreign to us. How can understand our past to prevent future mistakes. It's arrogant to think that Russia wouldn't invade. The Untied States invaded Iraq and that wasn't even due to oil. It to recover some honor for Bush Sr. The oil is in Saudi Arabia and that is where the majority of the 9/11 highjackers came from. By ignoring the real problem we're giving more power in the geopolitical world to a monarchy. Isn't that ironic?
Maybe Soap escaped? He wasn't harmed at the end of MW1, and Soap was wounded pretty bad. Soap doesn't seem suprised at all to find Price, almost as if he expected him to be alive somewhere. So clearly the two were split up at some point.
Price held kamarov over a cliff of course he's going to be pissed. Soap didn't do anything bad to him and kampov had a little payback I guess but got out of hand when makarov entered the scene.
I agree with you there, but America already owned most of the Saudi Oil, or had it in their pocket. Iraq represented a gagantuan amount of untouched oil that could be practically free for the US. That and the idea that they needed to step on it and invade through the winter, gain control and get out before summer were your main motives in my opinion.
I think Price sacrificed himself for Soap, so that Soap could get away. (These names are hilarious if you think about it) That's true. I guess our leaders really have lost all sense of honor. Well, I still contend that something should have been done about Saudi Arabia. I certainly wouldn't invade such an unstable country, but if it were to collapse we couldn't let it go like it was a 3rd world country. The United States has been built upon Saudi crude and ignoring the problem by invading another country for it's oil is stupid.
