MLG Cubic <<click to download (or there's another DL link at the bottom) Created by Korlash Supported Gametypes: 1v1 mlg slayer (use a team variant); but supports ffa and 2v2 for up to 4 players Map Description This map is probly my favorite of all that i made. It is a 1v1 map made with IM BE DUM's quarter canvas. I primarily forge small maps but not often from this canvas. I have only played a couple games, but the spawns should be mostly good. Also, I put a roof on top of it, to give it more of its cubic feeling. For the weapon set, I didnt include any power weapons because of how small this map is, so i have 1 carbine in each non-starting corner, a few br's throughout the map, 2 plasma nades below the high elevated carb, 2 nades on the obelisk ledge in the defenders corner, then one in the little pit of the attackers corner. And now.. onto the screenshots: Defender's Corner [/img] low carb corner (attackers corner at far end [/img] high carb corner (with a dropdown, and then the ceiling) [/img] and finally, the attackers corner (towards the right) [/img] Well, that's my map. There are more maps to come, but i'm trying to space out my posts so i dont bump other maps off the first page suddenly. Hope you enjoy! Download MLG Cubic Edit: As requested, here's another pic, that shows an overview with the roof deleted: [/img]
Looks good and all, but it's kinda hard to see the layout. Maybe a sky view screenshot with the roof taken off would be nice to get a better feel for it.
god man, i wish more members were like you. in all seriousness though, its definitely a solid map. i dont think i would be too mad if you posted another one the geomerging really complements the layout from what i can see. ill give it a dl and forge around through it.
thanks for the feedback, i appreciate it. and i'll see what i can do about a good overview screen tomorrow after school if im not busy
Hey, maybe you should add at least one power weapon. A quarter of the crypt, including multiple levels is bigger than most people think. Otherwise, looks like a pretty good map. Besides the ^"Power Weapon bit"^, I've got nothing bad or constructive to say.
ah i thought about having a mauler on this map, but i feared it would be too overpowering, because the 1st person to get it can maintain it and camp in certain areas, but it may not be so bad after all since the map is not too cramped anywhere. I was also thinking about 2 no clip snipers spawning 120-150 sec into the game, because i played a 1v1 sniping game and it was pretty fun. I'll need opinions on those ideas and the idea of blocking that high piece where you jump on the obelisk edge so you cant get up on it anymore, cause ppl can see the whole map from there
A mauler wouldn't be that much of an issue, and having snipers spawn at 120-150 would be a little too much, seeing as this is a small-ish map and they wouldn't be very useful. If you were to add those two weapons, I would have the mauler 0 clip-120 sec. spawn, and the sniper 0 clip-90 sec. spawn. 2 snipers might also work. By "The obelisk edge" do you mean the structure made out of the tube pieces? You could prolly make it higher or something along the lines of height. Or if you really wanted to, you could invent a "special" gametype where the players are effected by higher gravity; Unless some parts of this map rely solely on jumping to reach.
alright, whenever i decide to update it, i'll test the map with a mauler (in the very center of the map?) at 120sec spawn and a sniper at 90sec at each starting corner (not spawned at start) with no clips and have the snipers not spawn at start, because i dont like just starting games with a snipe-off. Anyway, yea, its the structure with the tube pieces. i may just end up replaceing the Y-tube with a normal tube piece again, or put double walls to patch that whole area up, or leave it how it is, undecided
OR, you could exploit a player's ability to reach the Y-Tube, by putting a mauler up there, adding a ramp from the top of that other tube on the double block. You could also use fins, obelisks, etc. lower on the Scenery list to block those things off. That might also add an aesthetic appeal to the map. It might also help; and this is just a suggestion; to add one more smaller floating platform w/ a column "holding" it up, in the High-Carb Corner picture, where you see those two double blocks vertically stacked on eachother, connected to that ramp to the right of it. That might also add another path to the "Mauler platform".
