My Mistakes so far 1. I thought putting in a safe area meant the people spawning inside that point cannot be hurt. Incorrect. It is basically a way of setting an area for play to happen in. My initial spawns were outside of this safe area and it caused instant death (from "FELL TO YOUR DEATH" at the beginning of the game because all of my initial spawns were outside of this area. 2. Put both initial and re-spawns for Red, Blue, and Nuetral colors. Initially did only red & Blue initial spawns and tried to play a game of Free for All Slayer and it again resulted in Instant Death as soon as I started the game. 3. If you are planning on adding different spawn areas for different team games don't add them in Basic Editing because they will be there for all game types. Same with weapons...I planned on adding many power weapons for an Invasion game type and put them all in under basic editing and need to go out and remove them and make them game specific now. These are just some of the time consuming mistakes that I made and had to figure out. Just thought it might be nice to have a learn from my mistakes thread.
Those are pretty good ideas, and I like that you came up with this thread. Let's see, some of my own... 1. When it seems like you have a lot of budget left over, check your item limits. I was onmy way to building a huge map, with over half the budget left, and ran out of buildings, ruining the original aesthetic value to the map. Try to keep the item limit in mind while using Forge. 2. Halo: Reach has falling damage. That stunt ramp from the Hangar to the Island isn't going to end well unless you have something to break your fall, such as a shield door or two. 3. Seven Kill Balls may look pretty cool at first, but lag begs to differ. Realize how much lag a large amount of objects in one place can cause. 4. "Hey, there's water on Forge World. Let's go for a swim." Let's not. Remember that you should keep your objects (and yourself) from getting too deep in the water, Sprtan armor wasn't made to float. 5. Sorry, they don't have them. How many hours have I spent in Forge World trying to build the simple items like Pallets and Forklifts? Sadly, Forklifts are not Forgeable, and Pallets don't exist on Forge World, though they are on other maps. Forge World is not the map to go to when you want small, moveable objects. That concludes my contribution to this thread, for now. I hope some of this helps!
