So, I got lost from my base in another game, so I tried to get back to it following the coastline north. (red line) Using a 3rd party Cartographer application and a compass (the torches in the middle) I thought I was heading the right way, then I realise I was heading the wrong way relative to my compass. Now I have to head along the blue line...
Don't have an SS, but I made my stone fortress against a cliff with a huge waterfall spouting from it that goes all the way down through my base, which was awesome, then I got lost after going out to get sand for glass ((((((
Just Got Minecraft I will be taking Pics time to time, Im going to need help. I will check the MinePedia though.
ffffffffffffffffffuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuu i made a boat then tried to place it into my box, but right clicking on the box made me place the boat on top of it and i got stuck in side
Screw castles I made a peaceful house of sand with cacti in front http://i711.photobucket.com/albums/ww118/STWOW/****ingsandhouse.jpg I'm like a tuskann raider
Decided to start a new world, just for the hell of it. I'm liking this world way more than my first. No snow, there is actually a decent number of animals, and there are no weirdly shaped mountains.
I just wanna have a multiplayer server with flat grass ground. It is actually very fun with like 5 other people. Today I spent an hour on a server making a subway system with some people. It was great. I had to go mow the lawn and other stuff for like a few hours, and when I came back, I couldn't find it. So now I have spent forever looking for a good map with decent people, and I've only found stupid servers with towers everywhere, random water, and shitty people. /rant.
I've made an island base, it's starting to be pretty wicked, half got blown-up my those explode-y ***** things while starting it though.
What I do to keep mobs from entering my base is build a moat around the outside and fill it with water using buckets. The water is placed every so often so that it pushes the mobs into a hole with lava. After that I dug under the entire system and used water to make a collection area where all of the drops ended up. I'll link the video I learned this from. YouTube - Minecraft Mob trap/looting system Anyway, just found something that may just be the most helpful thing to me in this game. I found a chart on how to use redstone to make LOGIC GATES. You can make inverters and OR switches, as well as switches that rapidly turn on and off. I might just use an AND gate for a security system in my house (i.e. two inputs in entirely different areas must be on for my iron door to open.)
Stuff like this: YouTube - Minecraft 5-clock with an AND gate If you mean you don't know what redstone is, it's an ore found close to the bottom of the map and can be used for wire technology like that one Gary's Mod addon. YouTube - Minecraft Tutorials: Redstone - #1 Basic I/O Animals spawn on well lit areas of ground. If you have an enclosed area, some animals will spawn there during the day. If there are torches there, it will be the only place for them to spawn at night and more of them will spawn.
I actually tried having an animal farm and I pushed a cow and a lamb into the stables. I left to harvest the wheat I planted and as I returned I noticed both have disappeared. So even if you can get them to spawn in your house, they won't be alive more than an in-game day.
