Well...the update isn't that far back. I know in internet time it seems like an eternity but version 1.6.6 that the xbox minecraft runs on was released on May 31, 2011 for pc, so a little less then a year. And there are seeds, Minecraft Seeds | Sharing the best Minecraft Seeds: All Seeds (beta 1.3-1.7). I wouldn't really call 1024 by 1024 blocks "small as hell", what were you doing in the PC single player minecraft where you needed more space then that? Most people spend their time digging down not going out. Not that it isn't significantly smaller then the PC version but that's like saying the world is "small as hell" to the Universe. While true, perspective, perspective, perspective. Try to remember, this is an arcade game. Microsoft has a file size limit imposed on arcade games at 2 gb so things have to be carefully planned out as to allow for a smooth user experience. Why should you be able to save someone else's world? What if I was a **** and griefed (destroyed) a large structure they made and then saved the game. Again, it is an earlier version, they did start developing this awhile ago you know and software design, especially between different companies, is hard to keep perfectly up to date on. Ports are not always easy code switches. So I'm sure eventually the later features will be added with updated versions. As far as the price, most things on a console are more expensive than PC counterparts. The reason being convenience. Some people don't have a high end gaming rig (not that one is needed for PC minecraft but still) or just don't do computer gaming. So "we got pretty screwed on this one", hardly. Would I recommend getting the computer version over this? Yes, because of all the updated features, mod support, multiplayer servers, etc, but the 360 version does a stand up job.
You are also forgetting that knowing microsoft, 360 players will most likely have to buy any updates unlike the PC players.
dlc... for minecraft is an update on PC. if they released DLC at all and it was already in the PC version. People would riot so i dont think they will have either. and i doubt they would release console exclusive items.
If you went beyond this ignorant perception of how Microsoft plans to handle future updates for the game, you would have sifted through Notch's tweets to find that they are getting a limited number free updates for the game. I'd link you but I'm certain they've been deleted.
I believe the xbox version is only getting a few updates. So the "limited number" refers to the number of updates not the amount that are free.
Well that sucks. I don't see a point in not updating a game like this. Or at least limiting how much it can be updated.
They don't have to follow the same update path the pc version did. All they have to do is port over each update's changes. Which means they could go to 1.7 for the next update and then to 1.8, and then to the retail 1.2 if they wanted.
Kill yourself. 1.8 was where most of the game-breaking changes and additions were made that they are still working their ass off to fix. Terrain Generation, The End, etc... Anyways, PC version is much more superior, servers, server plugins, mods, texture packs etc... I don't know if I'll be getting it now, but I will be getting it.
Maybe they'll get the most used texture packs/mods and make them available as DLC? Seems like a crazy idea but it could happen. Still gonna stick with the PC version. Mostly because I can't afford it.
