According to Dev, hunger is a feature that may be disabled if we all get together and complain hard. We can do it.
I just hope its something that can be toggled in the options like difficulty. I can deal with it being there, I just would like the option to go without it when I'm just building crap though.
After seeing Notch play through 1.8 for a few minutes, hunger doesn't seem too bad. At least, not compared to the Enderman.
Thing is I like to build on survival because it takes more skill, I just would rather not have the hunger system to deal with, creepers are enough as it is. But, I do see your point, so I'm probably gonna just have to deal with it.
I can't see hunger as being too big a problem except for when you go mining. You'll need to take food with you, sacrificing some slots needed for bringing more resources up, but then again it does force you to be prepared when you go mining.
Anyone in here on the GoO server that has an old mine in Canadia I need to know if you still use it. I'm hollowing out a 150X150X40 block for a town concept.

I'm not quite sure, but I believe that Roland also has a place out there. Could be his. Another alternative is that you could get Moose or Dev to use Big Brother to see who's mine it is.
Hunger is confirmed toggle-able... for those who were wondering about it. FAQ about 1.8 is hurr: Click me and make Minecraft love to me. Endermen are going to be scurry.
1.8's being split into two? Notch said that the first part will come out in a couple of weeks (and i thought it'd be any day now) and the second part will be released as 1.9.
Hey kids, lets all jump to ****ing conclusions! He said that he will be releasing 1.8 with all features except NPC's, Villages (Due to them accustoming to the terrain improperly) All other features should be in initial release. In a later patch 1.8.1,.2,.3 etc. they will be added. 1.9 will be everything left that he wants to do that isn't yet in the game. The Nether update (Which he briefly replied to a question that it would be in 1.9.), Volcanoes, possibly a rain-forest biome, (Monkeys!) That is all I really have on 1.9. Correct me if I'm wrong, but I'm pretty sure I'm right.
