I present to you: Metropolis. An inspired re-imagining of the classic Halo 2 map Headlong, Metropolis will bring back waves of nostalgia for the bygone days of 4-player splitscreen fragfests and crazy BTB shenanigans. Whether it's ramping the Hog off the broken highway bridge or sneaking in the back door of the under-construction base by jumping on the crate, Metropolis has something for everyone. Geese, Ghosts, Hogs and Wraiths patrol the central open areas, but fear not infantry - A central Splazer, Rockies in the tunnel, a Blue Dragon in the parking garage, two snipers, and scattered stickies can ease your vehicular woes. Metropolis has great mix of long, open sightlines down the sides of the map and tight, room-to-room combat inside the central buildings. Red Team controls the well fortified under-construction building and attached parking garage, while Blue Team's beachfront base is more open but affords easy access to the large central building and the shotgun within. The weapon setup is (for the moment) as follows: DMR x 10, 30s, 2 spare clips Needle Rifle x 4, 30s, 2 spare clips Plasma Pistol x 2, 30s, NA Needler x 3, 45s, 2 spare clips Sniper x 2, 150s, 1 spare clip Rockets x 1, 180s, 1 spare clip Spartan Laser x 1, 180s, NA Plasma Launcher x 1, 180s, NA Shotgun x 1, 60s, 1 spare clip Grenade Launcher x 1, 90s, 3 spare clips Concussion Rifle x 1, 90s, 1 spare clip Frag Grenades x 8, 15s Plasma Grenades x 8, 15s/30s (for pairs) Machine Gun Turret x 1, 60s Wraith x 2, 180s Default Warthog x 2, 75s Ghost x 2, 60s Mongoose x 4, 30s The map is currently undergoing wave after wave after wave of testing and tweaking. Bear in mind that the pictures you see aren't necessarily current, and keep your eyes peeled for updated info and new screenies as I finish this bad boy up.
Omg, race on this was so mug fun, too bad you couldn't ramp off the highway onto the ground though, but wow, this is a pretty good Headlong remake, I havn't recently played it so I couldn't tell you exactly how close it is but it seems you have the right idea. Next time you get a test going you got to invite me. I really want to play this, it just looks so awesome.
Headlong is one of my all-time favorite Halo maps, and that's a big part of why I like Metropolis so much. It really does bring back that nostalgic feel, even being of a completely different design than Headlong. I also really like how the map manages to have wraiths on it that provide a tactical advantage, rather than an overpowered asset. It was cool how the enemy team getting both wraiths completely turned the tide of the battle, but didn't become frustrating for us. I really like this map, keep inviting me to your tests!
This is a very nice remake and a very nice BTB map. It's fun to play on, and not too overpowering with the vehicles. Makes for some interesting One Flag matches. The wraith battles were also pretty intense!! Love this map.
