This is my new guide to merge objects on sandbox. There has not been a guide (that I know of) that shows you how to do this. Here we go. Step one. Place your object where you wish. I am using this block for example. Step two. Secure one of the sides with teleporters, or something else. Make sure you only do one set of parallel sides. You'll see how to determine which sides in the other steps. Step three. Put objects that go half as high as the object against the two remaining walls. Then put some small objects, such as wedges up against the block. Leave as much room as you want, depending on how much you want the block to go into the ground. Make sure it is all snug, those pieces act as "holders" aswell. Step four. Set the object to a long spawn time, and to not spawn at start. After that, start a new round. Step five. As you can see, I put some recievers on the end of the block, just to be safe. Now, do something similar to the picture bellow. Those walls will act as the door, like on foundry. Step six. You can either wait for the object to spawn, or go into its settings and make it spawn by changing its runtime minimum, to the maximum. Then change it back after it appears. Go to the object and grab it. Drop it right away. Don't hold on, just grab and drop. You should be able to see it sink into the ground. Wait, to make sure it's secure before removing all other items. There you have it. Merging on Sandbox. This probably won't be used to often, but I think it is the easiest, if not only way. Tell me what you think! Note: This may work on some pre-dlc maps, not sure. If someone could test it and reply, that would be great. Thanks.
Yeah all my friends freaked out when there was nothing that was permeable while holding it included on sandbox so now I can calm them down. I second that notion
There doesnt need to be a guide for this, as this was the first method of Geo-Merging before we realised you could just use a door.
Wow I wish I knew this before my cluster map ill be sure to use this in the future. Does this work in the crypt and more importantly sky bubble, or does it just fall to the ground? 5/5 really useful thread however small a fact still extremely usefull
omg epic..this is sweet..it merges perfect everyime..i remember when i used to merge on foundry it would turn out slanted sometimes but this comes out perfect
Yes I think this post deserves a sticky I remember way back when I had no idea how to geomerge without doors. Now I can honestly say I'm fairly adept in the way of the geomerge. I've even got quite good at escaping the cript to add bracers from outside the map as well as in. Today the questions on how to geomerge on sandbox are on the rise even though it's less nessicary with sandbox's more diverse object palette. This should be stickied since newcomers won't really look into a helpfull thread like this for foundry and think "so this is how they do it on sandbox"
This post doesn't need a sticky.. in fact its a repeat of an oooold geomerging technique in forging 101, its just that you guys were too lazy to stop using doors and were like "WTF?"
No, they just weren't even around for the pre-door geomerging phase. Yes people geomerged this way on Foundry too, and even on Last Resort. But, yea this doesn't need a sticky
Not lock just stop spamming it up with "Sticky nao" and "Omg thanks so much this helps (because I can't look at Forging 101 myself)"
An even better version of this guide has already been posted in Forging 101. All you people saying it needs to be stickied are new members, so you don't know what you're talking about. It was still nice of you to make this guide, but it's been done hundreds of times before.
yes how do you do that? the guy that made utah Mambo did it but i can't find ANYTHING on how to do it.
