i need to merge a lot of boxes into the ground and wall on avalanche i have tried the method of save and quiting bridges around the boxes but the box just pushes through them when a grab it i have tried with teleporters but the box pops out when at an angle i know how to merge and all my bracing is tight any advice would be great

Can you post a pic or diagram of your bracing? I could could also barely make sense of that post, fix it up =D. I am almost certain it is your bracing.

I mean this happens sometimes, also happens on foundry when your trying to geo-merge a open fence box in to the floor or wall.

If you want I'll try to help you...

Long post inbound, so sit tight.

Geomerging happens when one of two interlocked objects is released. The tension between that object and the object it is interlocked with overrides the tension with the physical barrier(s) of the floor and/or wall(s). As with all objects, immovables do not like to occupy the same space, but because of their immovable nature, when they spawn on top of one another, they have to get over their differences and get along. That's how interlocking works.

How is this relevant? When an interlocked "immovable" object is suddenly given the option to move again, it will negotiate the fastest way out of the tension it is in with the other interlocked object, following the path of least resistance. This is the most common method for geomerging, because often, the resistance to motion given by inherrent map geometry (read: floor and walls) is less than the resistance given by the immovable "guides" placed around the object being merged (though sometimes you'll find that the guides are insufficient to keep the object you're merging where you want it - typically, because the "guides" are very thin).

So then, merging at an angle. Theoretically, the best way to do it would be to interlock two boxes: one resting on the floor, and one at the angle you want and "resting" atop where you want the other box to end up. Place guides (either other boxes, or teleporter sender nodes), save, and then grab the bottom box. If all goes well, it will geomerge where you want it and at just the angle you want. If not, quit and try again until it works.

Alternately, the tried and true method for using doors to geomerge could be used. Simply alter the method by placing one door upside down on the object being geomerged, and the other on its side (window panels can also be used). Because of the door's unique properties, the quick-interlocked doors will push down unevenly on the object, and you'll wind up with an angle. Might take some finagling to perfect, but should produce the results you want...
