Thanks for trying to get this thread back on track. I believe what you just said is the real reason that it is illegal. What would happen to the economy of this country if half the teenagers entering the workforce suddenly stopped going to work so they could stay home and get high? I knew a guy in high school who was one of the brightest people I ever met. He started smoking weed around 9th or 10th grade. His grades started suffering, and I don't think it was a coincidence. I've also worked with marijuana users. Some are really motivated people while on the clock. But if they come in to work high, it's a different story. I don't think weed is that bad. I myself have tried it twice and it wasn't something I care to ever do again. I'd rather just drink beer. Filling my lungs with any kind of smoke just makes me feel sick. I don't hold it against someone if they smoke weed, but it makes me wary. I've known too many shady characters and losers who smoked it.
It just a plant, a plant the grows in the ground, and if you happens to set it on fire there are some effects. But all in all it's as natural as a drug can get. Cigarettes contain over 4,000 ingredients, including 43 cancer causing compounds, why anyone would want to start smoking cigarettes is beyond me, it's just too hard to quit. There are 0 added ingredients to marijuana, and the only side effects are hungry, happy, and sleepy, and there are no physical addictions to it unlike cigarettes. And about that commercial we've all seen where the stoners are at a drive up and they hit that little girl on the bicycle, yeah, thats why little girls shouldn't get high and ride their bicycles. The fact that marijuana is even a drug or illegal makes no since, aspirin is perfectly legal but if you take 13 of those sob's it will be your last headeache.

Yeah, lol, I seen that a while ago, I am a big Katt Willams fan. I wouldn't suggest smoking weed if you are somewhat impressionable and don't have the will power to control yourself, which I'm not say you don't have. But I wouldn't let my kids smoke, so obviously I'm not saying it's the best thing in the world, however it isn't going to screw up your life if you try smoking it. Weed is harmless. You can't make any jabs at weed that you can't make at alcohol. Kids do bad in school once they start smoking weed? Same is true if they drink. Hence the legal age limit. You **** up at work if you come in high? Same as coming in drunk. Hence, responsible drinkers never drink before they go to work.
I started smokin weed a year ago and my grades remained the same. I dont get zooted everyday though. When my friend is zooted, he can freestyle rap about anything. One of my friends is evan MORE retarded zooted lol, kinda like me. And i stopped using my glasses a week into it because it improves eyesight. So yes legalize it noa!!!!

Oh, god, I am so sick of this debate. In english last year, we had this social action project where we had to pick a problem in the world and research it and try and change it(or fail trying). I didn't do it because I'm lazy, but all of the stoners in my class chose to "legalize marijuana". Their reasons were to stop persecuting marijuana users to create better funding for health care. That is the worst reason for legalizing marijuana I've ever heard. Those are two seperate sections of the budget. I'm sure we just spend and spend whatever in each, not dip into another. There's no reason to legalize it, and I know everyone says its good for medical use. I saw a report on medical marijuana and there was a store somewhere in California that sells it if the person has a prescription for any type of pain. There was a woman, obviously a drug addict, who claims to have stubbed her toe, now she needs marijuana. And those are the people who piss me off. I'm not saying the patients with cancer shouldn't be allowed to reduce their suffering, what I'm saying is we shouldn't legalize it completely
I think it should be legal because if people sold it in drugstores, drug dealers and all of that violence would go down. no more gang violence because some gang just sold a shitload of weed and another gang wanted it.

I have to respectfully disagree with you there. You see, there is violence because there is money involved. And there is money involved because the gangs can get rich selling something that is illegal, and that people cannot purchase anywhere else. If marijuana is legalized, and available everywhere, gangs will simply start selling other illegal drugs instead. No longer need your dealer for weed? That's ok, because now you need him for crack or meth. Gangs will always fight over turf and illegal drugs. Sorry for getting off topic, but these types of things are always more complex than people think.

I agree with you there. I was simply saying that it won't suddenly cure gang violence if weed is legalized. But I also think that gang leaders are entrepreneurial and opportunistic, so they will eventually fill whatever void is left if weed is taken out of the equation. Right now, they are selling weed. It could be much much worse.
It really depends on what the government does, supposing they do legalize it. To truely kill the black market sale of marijuana completely, i think they would have to provide lower prices, a massive selection of different strains and quality, different flavors, etc, etc. Because whats going to happen is, the gov't will sell what they want to, at their prices, and dealers and growers will say "Well **** that, i can move better product for much cheaper than that." And it will still be sold on the streets. The other thing, is that I'm sure there would be plenty of "Oops, this shipment of marijuana 'fell off the truck'"... They'd probably have to deliver the product in armored cars, depending on the neighborhood. Even though its just weed, and is not normally the focal point of many violent drug-related crimes... if you live in the hood, and you see that much free money drivin by in a truck, and its not guarded by anyone with guns... I actually just thought of this. With the gangs not able to sell marijuana because it is legalized, they would have to turn to much stronger drugs. Then, people are getting into much stronger drugs because they still rely on those gangs selling it. So legalizing marijuana could lead to a rise in the use of stronger drugs
