Hello everyone! I have been planning and working on a map, but now, I am officially stuck in the forging process. I needed help, and what a better way of asking so, than seeking the forgehub community. So, it is very basic now. The only fancy stuff I have built, is the middle line. It is supposed to be a symmetrical team slayer map. It is suppose to be covenant styled, look at the shield doors, and doors. Any, critiscizm, ideas, well...anything really would help out a lot. Here are the pictures:
Even though it is Covenant, You should probabolly loose the shield doors. They make sandbox maps look tacky to me. But that's me. I suggest putting in a break of line-of-sight, instead. Otherwise its looking pretty sweet and looks Covenant. Job well done
In the second picture, you may want to loose the bottom arch to prevent a lot of jumping. The shield doors are okay to me since they look very good and are aesthetically pleasing. In the third picture, it's better if you remove the small block (the one near the shield door) because I do not see any use of it. Same goes to that triangular wedge as well. Try merging those objects halfway to the big block (double box) (same picture). I am not quite sure about this, but just maybe....the map can look very good if you maintain the size, add some walls, a roof for each section and more cover. I think it would look great. Just a theory.
I disagree with PJfan, I think the shield doors are the best part of your map. I mean that in a good way.... If you could interlock the small purple emitter into the walls so you can only see the shield it would be even better.
If you dont want to lose that lower arch, you could also interlock a corner small or something into it on both sides, which would also eliminate the jumping. Just a suggestion.
The are that you have presented is somewhat cluttered. If it is going to be the center area, it will need ample room for fighting. It will need room for strafing, explosions, etc. It also looks like there is a lot of jumping involved which is usually a bad thing.
This map looks like it needs a sexy arch. Try making one branching off one of the bigger walls and make another structure off to the side and try to branch them together some how. Do this on both sides of course, I think once you do that, you should be close to finishing this map.
