Magnetic By Cory021 I edited parts of the map. Be sure to download again if its necessary. I'll put new pictures of the map after editing Magnetic is a mid-sized symmetrical map built on the upper level on Sandbox. It supports Team and FFA slayer, CTF, infection, Team and FFA KoTH, territories, and Assault. It plays very well with FFA Slayer and 2v2 or 3v3 CTF games. The design of Magnetic is essentially 4 rooms connected by walkways and a center room in the center. The gameplay works very well and is very balanced. Most of the weapons are close range, but there are still 4 BRs that you can grab to attack the enemy from range. Weapons and Equipment: BR-4 Ar-2 Mauler-2 Energy Sword-1 Magnum-2 SMG-2 Plasma Pistol-2 Spiker-2 Plasma Rifle-2 Flamethrower-1 Regenerator- 1 Bubble Shield-1 Plasma Grenades-7 Frag Grenades-6 Overview of Magnetic Blue Base Red Base Energy Sword spawn and Sender Node Receiver Node (behind the Grav Lift) and Flamethrower Center Room with Regen. Lots of action in FFA Higher view of sword spawn. You can jump from one tunnel to the other using the ledges. Just watch out for those fusion coils, yeah, those. You can also attempt to grab the Bubble Shield Here's a few action shots: Battle on the Ledge BR fight Never Saw it coming (he's holding an energy sword, its just somehow well hidden) A few notes about the map: -The first version of the map contained a ceiling, but it was very uneven and hard to make, so I deleted it and raised all the walls so it is virtually impossible to escape (I'm sure there is some crazy grenade jumper that can escape somehow). -The Flamethrower used to be a Brute shot, but it was possible to escape with it so it was changed -Thanks to a bunch of people from UEG for testing Magnetic with me and helping me make it better *I edited the parts of the walls around the map to make it look nicer and made the jump with fusion coils impossible by putting a block over the ledge. Hmm whenever someone must include a flamethrower I usually tell them to add in needlers. They are believe it or not good power checks on them. Slow mid close range gets wrecked by mid long range homming needles every time. You also never really need nades to escape a map it's called butterfly jumping. Any ways I am intreagued by you placement of the fusion coil on the ledge. Why not saying it's bad but what good is it up there. Plus you could probably melée it and get out of the map. Edit: sorry missed that coil explination. Also you may want to consider a 90 sec respawn carbine at each base it adds some diversity to gameplay and I think it would fit quite well with your current set up.
I find it kinda funny how your providing people the object they prefer to use to escape the map right next to the other object (fusion coil) for more height next the potentially the easiest spot to break the map. anyways it looks good but i doubt the flamethrower would work because this is a rather big map, it only works on construct because its a small, multi-layered map. anyways, 3.5/5 for the time being edit: just a question, were your action shots done with a guest controller because i noticed in both the BR and the AR action shots none of the Spartans were moving. just curious it wont change my rating.
I'm not sure if its possible to jump 2 blocks and survive even with a fusion coil, but I'll edit it anyways to make it impossible. The fusion coils were one of the last things I placed on the map due to people camping up there. The flamethrower isn't overpowered, but its still very useful in the middle area with the regen used along with it. Its mostly used to attack people coming out of the teleporter. And to the edit: I was playing with a guest to get the action shots, although it does kind of look like they're not moving. (In, the regen one, the spartan on the left is jumping BTW)
Well the pics are still 1v1 games which isn't what your map is for. Anyway it's not that big of a deal. I personaly do agree with the flamethrower on this map though. This map has a layout very similar to construct if you look at it. Construct having a flamethrower is a good reason of why this map is fine with one. For the fusion coils you can escape. Height has no relation to the damage you take. You can jump over five boxes high and survive easy, be very carefull where you put them.
