Most of us here know how maps are categorized. Competitive, MLG (Thanks to me :D), Casual, Race, Mini-Game, and Aesthetic. Lately I have noticed more and more that the people who don't know how things are categorized (and even some who do know) are passing off maps as Competitive, when really the map is not designed to be competitive at all. I've felt that this strongly needed to be brought to the Forge Hub Community's attention.

Before I move forward, I should go over what the difference is between a Competitive Map, and a Casual Map let's say. A Competitive Map is a map that while often symmetrical, doesn't have to be. Also, a Competitive Map is a map that is extremely well thought out, has minimal bumps and cracks allowing for smooth and fair gameplay, meant to be competitive and played with winning as the only goal, and tested, tested, and tested time and time again until its just perfect, so that the map possesses the ideal scenery, Weapon, and Spawn placement. That's not all that makes a Competitive Map competitive, but you get the point.

A Casual Map, is a map that is intended to be played to just have fun, and is often stereotyped for being a category just for Infection Maps. This is not true. There are lots of Slayer maps that are not that competitive, and yet still put into the Competitive Maps forum. What I mean is that some people would put a map that they made in 5 minutes and pass it as a Competitive Map saying that everything is so well thought out and it's really fun, when it is often not true. I don't want to generalize all of these maps that do this, but it's definitely the vast majority that practice this form of fraud.

What's worse, is that people here will actually humor the Map-Maker and say it looks fun and neatly put together, whether it be for +rep from said map-maker, or just being a nice person. Whatever the case, it needs to stop. People need to start actually giving constructive criticism or just not posting anything at all. But I'm getting side tracked from the reason why I post this thread. I continue now.

What I now want to do is show you an example of what I would say is not a Competitive Map and yet posted in that section, and needs to be put into the Casual Map section, or (dare I say) a new Map sub-forum. I will also show you a map that I think is properly placed and why it is.

    Map Overview

I want you to honestly think about this for a second. And no offense whatsoever to the creator of the map, (I've actually been thinking about writing about this for awhile, and this one just set it off, well that and this was the first map in that forum) but I want you to ask yourself. Does this map look like it was:
    Well thought out
    Tested
Given lots of effort when created
Created so that winning is the only goal

If you answered no to any of the above, then you are agreeing that this map is indeed not a Competitive Map. Either that, or you are either the creator of the map, or haven't seen enough of the map to judge for yourself. And if that's the case, then feel free to click the map name to view the thread and see for yourself. I now want to show you what is a Competitive Map and is placed correctly.

    Map Overview

Well now this map looks like there was a lot of effort going into it, well thought out. It's also Symmetrical, meaning that it is fair for both teams playing the game. Notice the v1.5. Basically by that right there you can tell that it has been updated to fix issues regarding anything from Spawn Killing to a tiny bug with an Oddball Spawn, perhaps. This was most likely influenced by people testing the map. The layout also looks well thought out, giving players the chance to counter people who may have the upper hand.

This will conclude my take on this growing problem we have with people clogging up the Forge Hub Superhighway with maps that could be really actually considered as Spam, which would technically resolve in an infraction, which is never the case for these people who do not categorize their maps correctly. The least our mods could do is move these threads (without a "Move receipt") so at the very least they are placed correctly. But I hope this editorial if you will does a good enough job of explaining how and why we need to just prevent it all together, and show the Halo 3 Community that Forge Hub is the Ultimate Place when is comes for people to post their hard-worked on maps, and that "we ain't messin' around"
