Little Brother is one of the books that I will continue reading day in and day out for a long, long time. Best of all, it's free. Legally. Cory Doctorow, the author, had placed the Creative Commons License on it. In layman's terms, this means that it's free for you to use and modify and publish, as long as you give proper credit and for non-commercial reasons. Link The reason I enjoy this book is because it's actually relevant to modern technology. Not the bundle of crap that most novels and movies purport hacking to be, as a bunch of skinny no-gooders hunching over a computer screen in a dark room writing a virus that looks like a bunch of spiders crawling through the 'series of tubes' of the Internet.
I'll read it if you give a little about the storyline. What is it about? The reason I'm asking is because I don't feel too confident downloading from craphound.com That, and it seems a little suspicious after you mentioned viruses when no one would really think of them.
I don't really worry about viruses, but if you insist. Craphound is the name of the guy's personal blog. The guy who wrote it, Cory Doctorow, is a co-editor of Boing Boing. It's distributed for free online under the Creative Commons license which allows others to take the free book and 'remix' it, as long as it's non-commercial. Plot: I found a hard copy of this book at my library at school, and I strongly urge you to consider buying it.
Sounds pretty interesting, I think I'll download when I get the chance. I was being cautious because recently there has been trojan outbreak. I don't really have any virus protection at the moment, and I really don't need any if I can be on my toes.
im not at my pc so i dun have to worry about viruses anyway, the ppl at my neighborhoods clubhouse fix's **** anyways. it does sound interesting ima check it out.
