Right, and the part I was more confident about with that post is that the players want remakes more than original forge maps. But the players do make up a far bigger part of the general community than the forgers do. Point being, we don't really want the CCs to represent the whole community.
Very dangerous thing to say that "players know best". If that happened in the comp community, they'd just vote in 5 remakes of midship. Somebody who has a deep vast knowledge of map design has the same influence on Halo 5 as Timmy Thumbless that saw his favourite Halo 3 map remade with 2 spawn points on the map.
Well personally I believe the only maps that should get in are my own. Everyone else is inferior. The fact that we need cartographers when the only maps that should go in are mine is a bit silly.
THE SOLUTION: Step1) 343 creates a basic file share database that records basic data and allows us to sort list between, highest ranked, most viewed, most downloaded, ect.....
Perhaps you're right, but anyways I agree 100% with everything you said and don't think I said anything that conflicts with it. Anyways, If the next ask goes as Nokyard says it will, this problem should be pretty much over.
Just want to point out that I'm not against the CC's in any way. I just admire the position and hope it get's the amount of respect it deserves. When all I hear about is how there is favoritism and corruptness I don't immediately say "OFF WITH THEIR HEADS" haha But it is discouraging learning about things after the fact, or seeing the authors of the chosen works. I don't demand attention, I just want to make sure everyone, including the CC's themselves are getting recognition for MM if the map deserves such attention. That's how it should be. Also, I find it extremely funny reading @SecretSchnitzel refer to @WARHOLIC as "Nicky baby"
Yes, that is exactly what people are clamoring about. Such an accurate assessment. No. No one is saying corruption. People can voice concerns about the process without it being accusations of corruption ya know. But that's okay, you can trivialize it and write it off as bullshit like you always do.
Haha, ok. I'm just kidding BUT I wouldn't have said it if it wasn't mentioned in the thread already. I don't want to start anything so I'll back out now but if there was corruption atm it's not benefiting me at all so I don't understand why you think I'll just "write it off". That's the last thing I need. All I ever heard from you (back in the day) is how I only got features because of corruption (total BS of course) so trust me I don't want to hear it all over again about me it anyone else so I definitely don't want to see "corruption". Just an ill timed comment not meaning harm & I apologize.
I think everyones issue back then was more anytime there was a tournament or contest it was mostly staff maps and their friends.
Yeah, that too. I caught slack from that but I cant help it if they came to me & asked me to build for the tourneys. It wasn't because I was friends with the staff, I only had 2 friends on the staff through the entire H3 through Reach time frame. They asked me because I had proven myself beforehand whether Schnitzel believes that or not. BUT I don't want this to get out of hand so I'd rather not dive into the old problems.
I don't either. My thing was the 1v1 tournament the map selection was terrible and the settings were bad. There were maps used with really bad flaws. Also, my map was not used for two very easily fixed things. Your map in that was honestly not the greatest but it was better than the staff maps outside Cerity and the other maps submitted.
I agree mine wasn't the greatest. I'm ok with that & I never thought myself better than anyone but if the staff comes to you & asks you to build a map for a tournament I bet you do it right? Now it's different & I am still going to make maps & submit them. Back on target, I think the CC's are doing a good job. I haven't been following too close but what it looks like from an outsiders point of view is that they had a short time frame to find breakout maps so they got a few designs they knew would work & went with those. True, if the community knew we would have busted out butts to get some breakout maps made but then they have to go through & test EVERY one of them & select the "best" ones. Seems like they didn't have that much time. I think we need to get over that for now because the CCs have already gotten us further than FH (or the forge community in general) has ever been. We have forge content in MM constantly now & it's even pushed into our face when we load up H5 before we can even start playing. That means every single person who plays H5 is getting at least a little knowledge about the Forge guys so I'd say we are getting somewhere. I knew something was going to happen with breakout because of the sudden flood of Breakout testing & I asked them in a lobby if there was some kind of contest & was told no, they just want to find a few maps to highlight so I see why some people are suspicious of what happened but I think they did what they had to & there's still a lot of H5 to come. Now if the future shows us a select few people getting maps in on this stuff then we can chop off their heads.
Hey man, no harm, no foul. I jumped down your throat there anyhow, so it's on me. In all fairness though, you were friends with the staff. That does increase the likelihood of a feature, as they're exposed to your content at a much higher level than forgers outside their clique. Not to detract from the quality of your maps though, it's just a natural occurrence in group dynamics. I've benefitted from the same over the past few years. It's not corruption, but there are distinct advantages that come with exposure. Get me? Sorry for the derail. --- Double Post Merged, Jan 27, 2016 --- I can swallow my pride and admit I was wrong back then. You're a solid forger and a pretty chill dude. I was an upstart ass with a chip on the shoulder. Haha.
