I mean it's nice to want things, but you have to be realistic.

The senpai thing was less directed at your post and more at what some other posters have brought up about becoming "recognized." Your idea meant no harm, had good intentions, and is constructive however for some users it is difficult to hammer out two or three reviews in a sitting. For example, for me just downloading a map, walking around it, and writing a review/comment takes 30 minutes on average. This isn't counting matches I'd actually play on it to gain a better idea of how it played in a certain situation. Considering some members here have full-time jobs, families, and etcetera when they do find some free time they like to prioritize their own work, looking at friends' works, or just playing regular Halo 5. If no one looks at your map it isn't because they want to ignore you, but rather they have an on-going to do list already.

On top of this people also tend to look at and playtest maps they generally would be interested in playing themselves. For example, Breakout isn't very popular in the Halo 5 community (and by extension around here) so if you make a Breakout map it is likely to be passed by in favor of a remake or 2v2 map (it also helps that it is easier to get 4 people together to test a 2v2). The only advice I could offer for getting more feedback is along the lines of what others have already said, this being make friends who are interested in forging as much as you are and try to be active around here in general.

This is so strange, feedback is being treated like a commodity. I never expected the forge community to be so self centered, when the whole idea behing forge is creating and sharing content for OTHERS to enjoy. Instead i keep hearing words like "validation" and "testing unions" like wtf is that? I've met very few pleasant people during my time here. Shoutbox is filled with ungreatfull entitled wanna be game designers bitching at 343.@Robert Cosper i think you have a good thing going, just maybe not the right time and place.

If you really want to push this idea, lead by example.

I respect your opinion on the matter, and I would hope that you would respect everyone's decision regarding their participation.

If your goal is to become popular, and to have the most popular maps: Advertise yourself and your maps. Help others, so they are willing to help you in return.

If your goal is to improve as a designer: Research the general principles of how to design successful maps. Study successful maps, and understand why they are successful. Practice designing your maps, and improve through trial and error. Every map you design is a learning experience.

Giving feedback is a great way of helping others, but I don't agree with having a schedule or quota of feedback being necessary.

If you like his idea, show your approval by putting some time toward giving feedback to lesser-known forgers every week.

Everybody forges for their own reasons. Nobody should be trying to shame others into doing what they believe is right.

My experience has been different. The forge community is full of plenty of good and helpful people.

You said it best, the site is posting insane amounts of maps at the moments, its hard to go over every one. At what point would you get sick of loading up a map and its ****/no spawns etc. A lot of people here work 40 hours a week, going through all these maps becomes a 2nd job in itself.

Its not ideal that you would like people to put in effort, not get a great response, then say "see ya, im done with this community". A tad hypocritical

Site and the community is having a boom period. Think we're doing fine

Look. I work. I'm married. When I get on Halo my number one priority is playing with my brother, who I am very close with but don't see as much as I like anymore. <---that is my reality.

I already try to get in as many test lobbies as I can, and that is very, very few. And I don't like to give feedback without having tested a map. Occasionally I leave a short comment after running around a map for ten minutes, but I don't have many tens of minutes to spare.

I think this situation is true for many posters here. They can't be judged for already having priorities.

My comments personally were not meant to be discouraging. In fact, I meant the opposite. If you want to be popular, you have to become socially popular as well as make good maps. If you want help, ask for it a ton. When I post things I need help with I always add the modifier: "please tell me what's wrong with my map." Post WIPs. Post daily on WAYWO.

I glance at the maps page, but I read every post in WAYWO and refresh the forge discussion daily, I figure the people who really want feedback are still working on their maps and will make themselves known. Often all you'll get from me is a like, becuase that is literally all I have time for.

Feel free to add me on xbox. If you are forging or testing while I'm on, invite me. Invite others. Many people here want to help, but unless you are looking for it and asking for it don't expect my comment on your map post, because my time is precious to me and I don't have as much of it as you seem to think I do. I don't have a couple hours every Saturday, let alone every week to devote to feedback, especially when I can't even finish my own maps, or play on my firiends'.

Stay on forgehub and invest yourself, becuase this is a good forge community, which wants to distill new members into great forgers. This is a good place to be.

I mean I am constantly checking out the forums page, maps page and forge reddit for maps that look fun. I appreciate these maps a lot and the work people have done.
