I agree with wonka. Kat's death was the most realistic. Soldiers don't generally die heroic deaths. They die sudden pointless deaths with no glory... walking along talking about the terrible food in the mess and BOOM... an IED blasts you in the face. I agree with the OP about how silly flying into the EMP field and THAT jump are. But lets stop and compare it to some movies: Example: In SIGNS an alien race capable of interstellar travel invade earth NAKED and WEAPONLESS! Alien commander: "Hey guys, we've scouted this America place and we don't think they have any guns, so need to wear your armour. This invasion will go without a hitch... so long as they don't discover our weakness to water.... or baseball bats... and lets pray it doesn't rain..." I could go on. Screenwriters refer to it as 'suspension of disbelief'. It's writing something that makes no logical sense for the sake of moving the plot forward or creating exiting moments. Without it, most movies would be very boring.
Dot: 56 seconds to destination. Jorge: Well, timer's busted. I guess I'll have to stay here and heroically sacrifice myself. Noble Six: Actually, just give me 20 seconds or so and I could just loot a watch or TACPAD off one of the Marines here and jury-rig a timer for the..... Jorge: Nope. Noble sacrifice. Noble Six: But I could just make a timer from some spare.... Jorge: *picks Noble Six up* NOBLE SACRIFICE! Noble Six: No seriously, wait! I could fix the ..... Jorge: SACRIFICE! *tosses Noble Six into space* Noble Six: Wait! My keeeeeyyyyyysssss! *Boom*
I didn't read the whole forum. Just page one. But I HAVE TO SAY: The crash was epic! Have you not liked action movies and epic crashes? The jump is part of THE EPICNESS! Jorge's death was for the drama. The stupidest death was Kat's death. Best was Noble 6's death and you know why!
I lol'd! I actually never thought of those, but come to think of it... Of course, even a Spartan might find the creation of an improvised timer in 56 seconds a little tricky.
ehhhhhh I suppose that in order of most stupid to least... 1. Kat's death, apparently they were playing swat. 2. Jorge's death. there were loads of marines on that ship when you got to that point in the mission. Surely you could've saved one to set the bomb off. 3. Jun's death..erm..It's not a death, and that's why it's stupid 4. Carter's death. I suppose that Blowing up a scarab is a pretty bad ass way to die. Least Stupid is tied between Emile's and your own. After all, you both are overpowered by sanghelli, and in all honesty, you manage to take out a fair amount of them before they finally get you. ****, Emile managed to kill a few even after being stabbed with an energy sword. Now that doesn't seem stupid to me.
EPIC FAIL anyway i think they did that just to support the story line of the mission. games do it all the time
I seriously hadn't thought of this either. One fried timer is irreplaceable but a $1 billion Spartan is? [br][/br]Edited by merge: The fail was the poster phrased it. And they didn't do it to support the story line. They did it to try to make the plot more exciting--that's what you have to do when the story isn't interesting enough, throw in b-line movie stunts.
