Across the Universe A story based on (?) the Beatles about...love and war, I think Spoiler I'd heard some great stuff about Across the Universe, but when I watched it I wasn't so impressed. I'm a huge Beatles fan, and I enjoyed listening to the music, but most songs felt done wrong or too slowly. The worst part was "Let It Be", where the cinemetography and such was great, but the song was....ugh. A bunch of songs just weren't right, they didn't capture the magicalness of the Beatles. I did like the end of the movie, but it felt too abrupt. There was some man vs. himself inner conflict, but not nearly as much as I had been put on to think. The plot was OK, and the main characters acted pretty well, and if they were actually singing (like before the lip synch, obviously), they also have good voices. Some of the graphics really seemed to be a good cover of what the Beatles were (such as during Strawberry Fields Forever), but in general, Across The Universe just seemed like a mediocre movie with some good parts, with Beatles songs thrown in for the hell of it. Still recommended for DVD watching, IMO.
watchmen i was really hyped for this, but was ultimately severely dissapointed. SPOILER: now, i fully understand that the reason for this movie not meeting a "pretty good" on my scale, was the overly excessive and often unneeded nudity. this really hurt the movie for me, and cases like dr manhattan, i felt like the only reason they didnt do the wardrobe differently than the comic book was because if they did do it differently, then (the producers) would get laughed at. over all, besides the negatives ive listed, and if they had been ommitted from the movie itself, then i felt it was a pretty good and different movie, but the overly excessive nudity easily killed it for me.
Slumdog Millionaire is about a troubled teenagner who is on the show "Who Wants to be a Millionaire" and somehow answers all the questions correctly. He re-tells his life an how he knows them all. I thought that this movie was really thought out. I can imagine (after the movie is over, of course) him getting beat up, or stealing a pair of shoes. The acting was great! The only thing that got me angry was the music. I did not like it one bit. It needs some work.
You're dead to me. Snatch European gangsters, pikeys, boxing matches, and a large ass diamond. There is really no way to summarize this movie. I'll just post the trailer. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Q8jbt0wBkMI Anyway, this is my second time seeing this movie. If that is any indication, I love it. I consider it a stylistic masterpiece, and since it is foreign it's cultured to my American ass. The humor is great, yet twisted, and smart. Many jokes piggy back off other previous jokes and instances, so when you get them they are rewarding. I can't wait to see Guy Ritchie's Lock Stock and Two Smoking Barrels
Last movie I saw was "Taken". It was pretty good, a lot of good action scenes. After watching it I don't want to go to Europe, lol.
The Haunting in Conneticut it is about a boy that has cancer and he can see dead people because he is close to death himself, and this guy that done autopsies on dead bodies a long time ago hid the bodies in that house and the boy with cancer and the dead boy try to help and get all of the spirits out of the house. I liked it and you should watch it
