It's been a super long time since I've been active here, let alone done anything graphics related. I had random inspiration to make this. It's about 120 layers :3 I focused a TON on lighting and coloring, but mostly symbolism above everything. And I had a lot of fun with it. I disregarded most technicalities that graphic artists like to follow, like focus, flow, blah blah. I really felt inspired making this. I hope you all like it. Most everything is made from scratch and textures, such as the rocks, or the planets in the background.

I'm sorry, but pretty much everything you added looks horrible, especially the rock. It just looks shoehorned in.

Edit: Though the tree looks good, even though you enlarged it and added some color.

As for my somewhat limited critique: The lighting on the rock looks a little off, the black patch on the grass beyond the rock looks.. strange, at least imo. The planet textures look great at highres, but at first glance I couldn't tell what they were.

I like the surreal, dramatic scene. I wasn't a fan at first, but after viewing the highres version I liked it more. The detail is nicely done, for the most part. You seem to have some blending issues, esp with the rock and planets. They seem stapled on, to be frank.

It seems a little bit cliche, overall. Tbh, I personally would've liked it without the rock and the dark shadow behind it. The message is a bit ambiguous.. the text, rock, tree, and planets.. It's a good idea, but I think it could've been executed better.

Though you should post moar work, anyone can always use practice.

The lighting is nice and helps convey the symbolism, but the moon seems to be a useless focal, though you weren't going for a single one.

definitely post more, but i have to agree with whats already been said.
the rock especially looks weird to me, like it doesn't belong.
also, you have leaves blowing off the tree as if it were being hit by a strong wind, yet the tree is not blurred and looks completely motionless.

also the message seems completely disconnected from the image.
i do not get anything like "death leading to life" from that.

overall though, not bad. would like to see more posted.

I didn't enlarge the tree, I cropped the image. And while I can agree with you on the rock (I think it sucks too, I couldn't get it to blend nicely) its supposed to be part of the symbolism. Thanks, I think.

As I said above, I know the rock is funky looking :p I made it from a texture, it's whatever. And the black patch is supposed to be a shadow, weeds, etc.

I thought the planets looked fine :( Alright then

I also agree it probably would've looked nicer without the rock, but it was part of a message I wanted to incorporated. The left side of the image is supposed to represent death, with the weeds and the rock and blah blah. The right is supposed to be life. The wind is supposed to show an uphill battle. And the planets just looked cool :p

I just thought the planets looked cool. When I first started making it, it was going to be more of a space art.

    Agreed :)
I can't say I understand you. I personally think the tree looks alright, but thanks for the critique :)

@Titmar, the tree being "still" seems alright to me, just saying.

@Multi, it looks like the planets have been placed, then the edges were erased, doesn't look like they're part of the image? That's the best way I can describe it :/

    POST MOAR WORK!
