Landslide

    Landslide (UPDATED VERSION)

    Landslide is an AVALANCHE style big team map supporting vehicles. Is is set up for most game types but recommended for Big Team Slayer, assault, ctf, koth, stockpile and territories.

    Without further ado, I'll take you through the map, starting with some general overview shots:

    This shot shows the general shape of the map. It has a horse shoe shape similar to avalanche/sidewinder, but is shorter and wider. The safe areas are very generous allowing flyers to go well above the structures.

    This shot shows Red side of the map. Each side has a main base and a lookout post connected by a two way teleporter. The man cannons provide quick access to the central battlefield and are perfectly set up to land without damage.

    This shot shows blue side. Note the position of the banshee in the distance.

    Now onto a little more detail:

    In this pic, a red dude has taken control of blue lookout post and readies to destroy their vehicles. The lookout post spawns rockets and a ghost. The teleporter provides a good back route into enemy bases for ctf and assault games.

    Each base has a narrow path leading away from it's upper level. The paths are exposed but provide the fastest route from base to base. Sniper rifles spawn at the end of the path just before the entrance to the shotgun room.

    Both the paths lead to the shotgun room where some of the most vicious battles tend to take place.

    The other side of the shotgun room. The long passage leads to the far end of the central structure where the spartan laser spawns.

    Interior of blue base. There are 4 main ways in: over the man cannon, through the teleporter, along the narrow path and good old fashioned through the front door.

    Each main base spawns a chaingun hog, a rocket hog, a falcon and two mongooseseses.

    Finally some assorted action shots:

    In this first one, you will notice the jet packer on the roof. There is very little cover up there, leaving them very exposed. If a pesky jet packer does take advantage of the roof, one way teleporters allows other AAs to get up and remove them by force!

    The doorway at the bottom of the big structure leads into the spartan laser room, which in turn leads through to the shotgun room.

    The banshee can really tip the balance and is worth fighting over at the start of the game.

    First off, this looks like a fantastic Big Team Battle map. If I could ever get 15 other players together (or, heck, even 9 other players) I'd download this in an instant. The only thing that really concerns me (and Bungie is prone to do this as well) is the lengthy respawn times on vehicles.

    Big Team Battles, to me, are the most fun when there are vehicles roaring through the map and chaos is everywhere. Having 3 minute spawns on ALL vehicles seems a bit harsh.

    The power vehicles (Banshee, Wraith, Scorpion, Rocket/Gauss Hog) I can understand. But Warthogs (chaingun), Ghosts, Mongeese (?), and Revenants (sp?) are fairly easy to destroy without power weapons in Reach. Doesn't seem like 3 minutes needs to apply to those.

    What he said +1. 3 minutes is too much, I recomend a maximum of only 150 seconds, and even then only for the most powerfull vehicles. E.G

    Rocket Warthog: 90
    Banshee: 120
    Ghost: 30-45
    Mongoose: 10-20
    Scorpion: 180
    Wraith: 160
    Falcon: 140
    Normal Warthog: 60
    Revenant: 100

    I know not all of these vehicles are on your map, but that is a sort of guide to general respawn times for a map as big as this. Just make sure you change the spawn times of Antivehicular weapons approriatly.

    New verison uploaded to file share 28th Novermber 2010

    Changes made from original:

    • Spawn times of vehicles changed:
    • Mongoose 30s
    • Warthog 60s
    • Ghost 60s
    • rocket hog 120s
    • banshee 120s
    • falcon 120s
    • Rock structure added above blue base to prevent campers spawn raping.
    • Safe areas lowered due to abuse of high cliffs by jet packers.
    Anyone who has already downloaded should do so again.

    Truly looks like a wonderful BTB map, it looks especially good for objective gametypes. I'd really like to play it, if you need anybody to test it, message me.

    If you want to play this map, maybe THIS THREAD may be of interest. I expect the Friday session maybe inconvenient for you, but how about the saturday one?

    Just downloaded and gave it the once-over. I've been looking for a good big team map and this definitely does it for me. Good job!

    very nice my only problem ..well not proble, per say is that it still very open and across from the major building is nothing if budgey allows i suggest making something there

    Unless I'm wrong, this map is based off of Avalanche? The name as well as the central green gave it away to me. It's a very fun map, and the vehicles aren't overpowered since there's a good amount of indoors battling as well as good places to have a 1 on 1 battle on the map. It's very unique.
