Version 3 of Landslide is now available! Thanks again for the feedback! I'm taking all criticisms seriously and updating regularly, so I'd love to have more people try out version 3. It's the first version where I'm proud of every part of Landslide. It's certainly a part of the map that I'd have liked to recreate more accurately, but there are a number of limitations that I encountered when developing that area more true to the original: 1) Budget is a huge issue for this area. If you look at what I have there now, it's made of around a mere ten pieces or so. Given the lack of huge rocks in the new Forge sandbox, there is little room in the budget to build out an earnest cave here. 2) It looks dumb. This area is already hard enough to Forge in because nothing in the palette matches this silver construction, but when you try to shoe-horn a recreation with low budget, it's not going to look good. That's especially so when it's an asymmetric cave and you can't afford the look or economy of 10x Rocks 4's. 3) I never really liked the asymmetry of the original Avalanche landing area. That said, it's something I will be work-shopping for sure. I love a challenge. That said, at this moment I'm at like 9900 spent and any piece I place breaks the lighting, so it might be a lost cause. I already stretched the limitations of Forge quite far in the most recent iteration. I'm a big fan of the fact that this is more of a reimagining than a total remake. Kudos to you for keeping the spirit and taking license at the same time.
Thanks for the feedback, Teancum. There's honestly a lot more I'd like to do with it, but budget and item constraints are a reality I have to accept. I may approach alternative versions of the map that explore utilizing a third route or use Sidewinder's teleporters to allow for more creative man cannon usage elsewhere, but we'll see. I'd like to play more of this iteration first, at any rate. Speaking of which, if anyone could help me with being part of a customs event, I'd really appreciate it.
