Ok, so I broke my laptop. (Long story short, I ****ed up, after my 5 years of constantly downloading un-mentionable things, it caught up to me, partly my fault, partly my father who decided that Norton Anti-Virus should be the only anti virus we used [side note: I did not agree with him. AVG, is where it at] So I now have a blank laptop, that has nothing on it. No OS, no files. Blah. And I decided, i'll learn some sudo (because I want to be like a super asian named Nemi) and pick a linux version to install and have fun with. So what now Nemi and everybody else. What am I to do? Which is for me? I've looked at Ubuntu. I'm looking at the Wiki comparison of Linux distributions and I see Fedora, is pretty popular along with Kubuntu and openSUSE. sauce: Which Linux is for me? - CNET Linux Forums Comparison of Linux distributions - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia I've got a stock HP Dv1000 HP Pavilion dv1000 specs and Laptop specifications - CNET Reviews Pretty much the same except my Harddrive is 100gb. Which I generally use to: -Watch movies -Download music -Listen to music -Look at porn -Web Browse (for porn) -Check email -Instant Messenger -Photoshop anyway it would be nice to have a desktop and functionality like windows with lmited sudo needed but i dont give a ****, its optional, like on a car optional, not necessary, but nice.
If you like Windows, you can always just download a 'free' copy of XP with a activation patcher. ;P But for starters, try out Ubuntu. I'm down to FreeBSD and Fedora for more serious work, but Ubuntu is nice for beginning.
