After todays update I tried to work on a map which takes place outside of Eden, however the spawns no longer work. I assume this is a bug as nothing was noted in the patch notes, however it could just be a deterrent from getting outside the map to use the nice skyboxes.
I'm not sure on this yet, but I've noticed spawn points are behaving weirdly when they just float in the air. you can see this by starting a new forge map on the forge canvases and only deleting the 256x256 floor, when going to custom games, players can no longer spawn on the map. So maybe the spawns outside of the maps you have are apart of this bug. I'm not reporting it yet until I've figured out what exactly causes this weird spawning issue.
Do you have a spawn volume placed? I don't see why they would try to deter you from getting outside of the map more so than it is, considering they had a map built outside of empire featured in matchmaking.
Why does it matter if the lighting is absolutely broken? The new update fcked the map on eden I spent 20plus hours on
That sucks! I can't comment on that as I haven't checked out the Out of Eden canvas map I made in a long time, or a map I started a while back. You've got me interested to look at it now though.
There is now pusedo lighting from the moon and it makes a strange white lightbox follow you everywhere you go and when you look at objects closely the get bright white
Iv a mini game pounders outside truth. Trippy as hell looking as the floor is mental looking.so i guess its screwed now.ahh well life goes on..gud luk all
I just checked out the canvas I made and I see what you mean with the lighting that follows you. I don't think it's too bad though. As far as spawn points go, I only have an initial spawn and a respawn placed on the map. I killed myself and it did indeed spawn me back in the main part of Eden and then the other times I couldn't respawn at all. Side note, I fixed the canvas and reuploaded it to my bookmarks. How I fixed this issue so I'd respawn back in the canvas was simply grab my respawn point and then let it go. I then saved the map as a new map and the problem was fixed. Got lucky figuring it out since I only saved as a new map so there was no chance the original map could go wonky on me. I can't say for certain that this method will work for other maps with more respawn points. You may need to do as I did and grab and release all of them before saving as a new map. Good luck!
This is a solution I came up with as explained from the thread I created for the Out of Tyrant Canvas map I made. This works great for Tyrant since it only force spawns you in one place. But, I can't speak for other maps as I haven't tried them yet. I suppose you could use several teleporters to teleport you back to your forged map if you can pinpoint all the force spawn locations (if there are multiple ones), but given map elevations and slopes, I don't know if you could adjust a teleporter's radius enough for it to work.
@The Cageybee007 was here yesterday (check out his YouTube channel for some really good technical videos) seeing if anyone had a solution to this for Parallax, since that map has no built-in spawns to send us to. I assume that this will be fixed at some point and the maps will be accessible again, but let everyone know if anyone of us find a solution. Go to minute 6 of this CageyBee video for some fun:
343i must have done a minor update and not mentioned it. I went back into my Out of Tyrant canvas and put down some more spawns just testing some things again. I saved it and then killed myself. I respawned on one of the respawn points. So I then tried it in a custom game and I was no longer force spawned into the normal boundaries of Tyrant. As of now, things are back to normal, but 343i could break it again so I will still have the teleporter method employed on this canvas as a backup. I'll have to take a look at my other canvases when I get the time to see if there is this spawning issue still or not.
Spawns that float 8 or more feet above the floor are glitched; if there is nothing below a spawn point, it wont work. There is no way to get around this currently.
I'm thinking of keeping a normal-physics team-neutral respawn point with high spawn order around on my maps - just in case. Not that losing any of my maps would constitute a loss, but it's a shame when it's some of your maps, so maybe give this a shot.
There is if you can pinpoint where you are force spawned in the map. It involves teleporters. I explained the method I used above if you're interested.
